I studied and worked at Oxford University, and still live in the city, I have a deep understanding of both 'town and gown' and I feel privileged to live in this beautiful and fascinating place. As an Oxford undergraduate, I took a degree in politics, philosophy, and economics before spending my career working in a range of UK and international organisations. My final full-time role was back at Oxford University in a senior management role. I now split my time between: non-executive and trustee roles in the health and charity sector; providing tailored tours of Oxford; cycling with my wife; and climbing and mountaineering. I love to use my deep understanding and knowledge of Oxford and its history to help visitors get the most out of their visit to the city. Before your visit, I like to build an understanding of your interests so that I can personalise the tour. A Qualified first aider A Qualified mountain leader. Full UK Driver's License. I have a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check clearance. None

Enjoy and appreciate Oxford by understanding the history of the University and how it has developed from its beginnings nearly 1000 years ago to become one of the foremost centres of learning in the world. Many visitors to Oxford ask 'where is the University?' The answer is that it is all around you. It's not one institution but many that together have shaped - and continue to shape - this beautiful city. This tour will visit the key University sites and colleges while offering you an inside view of the University history and traditions, past and present.
Meet at pleasant city-centre cafe which is convenient for you and over a tea/coffee discuss the day's itinerary and make final adjustments to suit your interests, and the weather! Then walk to the key sites including: - University Church of St Mary the Virgin, the centre from which the University grew. - The Divinity School - built in the 15th century this is the oldest, purpose built, University building. - The Bodleian Library - the central University library and one of the oldest libraries in Europe. - Radcliffe Square, the, cobbled square that is the real centre of the University. - The Sheldonian Theatre, site of many University ceremonies, including student graduations. - One of the many historic University colleges to give an insight into what life in an Oxford college is like. - The Examination Schools, the magnificent Victorian building where students sit their exams. - An optional visit to one of the five University museums and gardens.
