In this tour I will take you into in the charming Santa Bartolome and Santa Cruz district which have in the past been the living area of one of the most important Jewish communities in Spain. Today, it is the true historical heart of the city, with traces of the Jewish past still there, discretely decorating some palaces façades and building interiors, such as former synagogues transformed into medieval churches or the remains an old Jewish cemetery. Who was Susona? Where are the remains of the old Jewish cemetery? What was the San Francisco square used for previously? I will share with you some hidden stories and legends which bring us closer to understand how the Jews lived in Spain. We will also visit the Alcazar palace built at a time where the Jews had a very relevant place in politics and administration of the realm.
- The tour starts upon meeting - Walk to Santa Cruz quarter - San Bartolome district (both Jewish districts) - Coffee break in a coffee shop - Visit the Alcazar Palace and its gardens - End of the tour This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly
