In 1879, a 9 year-old called Maria saw some paintings in the walls of the cave she was visiting with her father- "look, daddy, bulls!". Maria and her father, Marcelino, had re-discovered some of the oldest and more astonishing works of art of humanity. Although Altamira cave is closed to public, the replica is the best option to get introduced into the fascinating prehistoric world. After Altamira Museum, we will visit the charming village of Santillana Del Mar, characterized by its medieval atmosphere: we will go back in time just strolling around its cobblestone streets, buildings and manor houses from different historical periods. We will visit Santa Juliana church, the real origin of Santillana del Mar, a National Heritage monument.
