Took this tour with our group of 13. Our main guide was Peter Z. We had two vans because of the size of our group. Peter was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Slovenia and gave us all a great education about this lovely country. He contacted me ahead of time to firm up details for the tour so he could maximize our time. The caves were fascinating. The kids in the group especially enjoyed that part of the tour. During our 3 week trip, we did numerous tours. Our time with Peter is our most memorable tour. He has such a gift for sharing history and life experiences. We are so glad we met him. We went the caves and castle and then Piran, where Peter graciously arranged the most lovely local meal. What a perfect day. Peter was so welcoming, and truly educated us on so much about the history of Slovenia and incorporated his own personal experiences growing up and living there through the years of change. We thoroughly enjoyed our stops at the castle, cave and town of Llubjiana. Peter so graciously bought us the special layer sweet that we shared - it was delicious! Peter is an excellent guide in multiple aspects. He was timely and managed the excursion route skillfully. He was helpful. He addressed our concern with not having Euros for bathroom or restaurant usage. He actually sent a message before the trip to alert us about possible poor weather. He was very informative. Itinerary Meet at the Koper cruise ship terminal for a warm welcome. Drive 35 minutes through scenic Slovenian landscapes to Postojna Cave, where I’ll share stories about Slovenia’s history, culture, and fun facts. Skip-the-line tickets are arranged with a 10% discount; tickets are not included in the tour price and paid separately. Enjoy a 15-minute electric train ride deep inside the cave, followed by a 70-minute guided tour in your preferred language. Relax on a 15-minute drive to the medieval Predjama Castle. Spend up to 60 minutes exploring this fairytale castle at your own pace with an audio guide. Next, a 35-minute drive takes us to Ljubljana. You’ll have up to 2 hours to explore Ljubljana’s charming old town at your own pace, with my local tips. We’ll then drive back comfortably to Koper. Optional: I can reserve a table at a family-run restaurant with authentic Slovenian and international dishes at fair prices.
