Dear travelers, let me show you Bratislava historical and charming, modern and panoramic, bordering three countries and guide you around Slovakia with its historic towns and villages, imposing castles and fortresses, traditional crafts, glorious mining history and hot springs, peaceful and picturesque countryside. I was born and raised in Bratislava during the times of Communism and the Iron Curtain and have lived in the border city all my life, therefore have witnessed all the changes that the capital of the Slovak Republic has undergone in recent times. With my grandparents and parents I used to speak Slovak, German and Hungarian and they encouraged me to learn foreign languages. While student I obtained the official licences and started working as a tourist guide for Bratislava and Slovakia. After the private business in my country was allowed I had become independent and had started my own way from guiding tourist to establish Incoming Travel Agency. I have years of experience and a big passion for the job. I guide professionally and drive responsibly. I am passionate about sharing my profound knowledge of architecture, history, and art. I have in-depth familiarity with life in Bratislava and Slovakia in general. I possess good knowledge of the most exciting places and best restaurants. I offer tailor-made, charming tours in comfort using my modern van. All my tours are suitable for private shore excursions for Danube-cruise passengers. I will pick you up and drop you off at the Bratislava passenger port, situated directly in the city centre. Choose a walking tour in the Old Town, accessible on foot from the boat, or a trip to several places of interest. I love Bratislava and Slovakia truly and deeply and I am looking forward to welcoming you to my city and country. In 1938, the national border copying along the city border of Bratislava was protected by a defence line of bunkers inspired in their construction by the famous French Maginot line, built to stop Hitler's invasion to Czechoslovakia. In the 1950s, the same line became part of the "Iron Curtain ", dividing Europe in the north-south direction to the "East "and "West ". During the Velvet Revolution at the beginning of December 1989 we cut the horizontal electric wires we faced every day for 40 years long, crossed the border and took the very first deep breath of the freedom. In Berlin they demolished the wall, in Bratislava we just cut the razor wire tenderly. For me and thousands of my co-citizens it was the first step over the border. We all keep our own length of wire at home like the memory of our isolation. Visit the renovated historical bunker with it's original equipment and touch the remains of barbed wire to understand and experience better the WWII and communist history of Bratislava
- Pick up of your choice - Drive to the bunker at the edge of the city, duration 15 min. - Short walk to the bunker and visit of the bunker with explanation of the bunker guide, duration 1, 5 hour - Drive back to the city centre and drop off of your choice, duration 15 min. This tour can be customized
