There aren't many hierarchies where Romania has won a leading position, but wineries seem to offer this chance. Of the vineyards from all Romanian provinces, a great sample is given by those of the southern area of Wallachia, belonging to the Dealu Mare wine-producing region, in the Prahova and Buzau Counties. Once there, the Mud Volcanoes from the Buzau County will show how the inner forces of the planet can shape the surface, and the Ciolanu Monastery from the same area may bring a welcome change. Above all, the scented essences in the glass can fill the most demanding visitor with the charm of a sun-bathed realm to remember.
After picking up the traveller(s), we make for the city of Buzau and then for the Mud Volcanoes, near the village of Berca, where mini-erruptions of natural gas-driven mud have shaped a moon-like relief. The Ciolanu Monastery with the Magura Open-air Sculpture Camp will complete the cultural part of the Buzau County, continued with the savoury wine tasting near Pietroasele, a place where a gold-treasure was found in the 19th century. Once in the nearby Prahova County, we move on with another wine-tasting session near Tohani, at Ceptura, to leave visitors with a rich impression (and possible souvenirs), before taking them to their hotels.
