Sighisoara Private Tour from Brasov

A great way to get to know parts of Transylvania. We had a free day and booked a tour with Florin for four. He picked us up from our hotel, pulled out a map of Romania and showed us area we would be visiting. We headed out first to Marienburg fortress and explored it and learned about the Knights Teutonic who settled there. (Watch the low doorways). We then drove to Viscri, and explored the world heritage site. It is basically a small village representing semi-rural life in Romania. We explored the fortified church there and some of the village and then King Charles’ home there. The country side is absolutely beautiful and Florin told us about the history of the area and town. We then drove to Sighisoara and looked at it from below before going up into it. We explored the tower gate which had great views from the top. We had a quick lunch and explored more of the old town before coming down the covered stairs. On our way back to Brasov, we visited the fortress at Rupea. It was very windy but we enjoyed it. We had a great day and Florin was kind enough to drop us off in the old town so we could visit the Black church before it closed rather than back to the hotel. Florin modified a few things for our interests and it was much nicer to have a private guide rather than be in a larger tour group that has a fixed itinerary and timetable. His tour was affordable and very enjoyable.

We had a great day with Florin and really enjoyed the tour he put together for us. He was friendly, informative and flexible. We felt that we were able to gain a better understanding of the local history and sites and were able to see so much more of the countryside than if we had tried to do this on our own. This tour is a perfect way to see historic sites as well as the mountains and countryside. It is a great way to get a taste of this part of Romania, with stops at fortresses and villages. Florin is a knowledgeable guide. We took two different tours with him and would recommend.
