Sibiu Medieval Saxon City Tour

We were very fortunate that our guide Liam knew the area so well. No one could’ve guessed that on the very day that we had planned our tour to the orthodox underground church. It would be closed due to a church holiday. However, our trusty guide delighted us with an alternative plan, and we visited a fourth generation mill. The lady of the house greeted us with delightful dogs, lots of stories and the opportunity to enter into the area of the Mill works The river water was so fresh. I was astounded After this adventure we stopped at a magnificent semi restored 12 century monastery. We were delighted that our guide knew exactly were the best apples were and grapes which we subsequently plucked right off the vines and ate, Yum Yum. The medieval town of Sibiu was resplendent. It was a great day, thank you.

The day trip from Brasov to Sibiu with Florin was great! We started at 8:30am at our hotel and returned at 7pm. Florin is a save and careful driver, the car is airconditioned. We stopped at several interesting sites on our way to Sibiu. And Florin explained much about the landscape, cultures and religions. To hear first hand experience from communistic time and the change after the revolution was very interesting for us. Sibiu is very similar to Brasov, during the stops we learned much about Transilvania!

We are SO glad we found Florin! His tour from Brasov to Sibiu was superb. We particularly liked that we got off the beaten path and saw more of the "Real Romania.". We considered modifying the intinerary to make more time for Sibiu but in fact are pleased we stayed with his plans. The Sinca Veche Monastery is a must, and we loved the ruined abbey at Carta. The Ohaba water mill was quaint, and the Fagaras Fortress worth a visit. We had a great tour of Sibiu, but so much more. Thanks!
