Hi, my name is Liviu and I am a licensed national tour guide living in Brasov, the geographical heart of the country and Romania's tourist capital, "probably the best city in the world", as many of the cosy open-air restaurants of the Old Town claim. About 10 years of offering guided walking or panoramic tours to large groups, as well as to smaller ones or families recommend my services, relying on quality of the information, flexibility or customizability and a "human touch", starting from the idea that what a tourist wants is both being offered a rich and valid story, and receiving a nice time in the chosen location. There exists availability for transporting small groups (3-4 persons)by car to famous tourist destinations within a couple of hours' reach from Brasov, to experience the glamour of Transylvania, so much appreciated by Prince Charles, among others, to enjoy the dynamism of the Romanian capital- Bucharest or to walk in the footprints of the Romanian Royal Family. For all these reasons, you are given a warm welcome to visit us! I'm a bachelor of English and Romanian at the University of Bucharest, and licensed as a National Tour Guide #2602. Driving license. As a Romanian licensed national guide, there are limitations to guiding inside some museums, such as the Cotroceni Palace or the House of Parliament in Bucharest, or the Peles Castle in Sinaia, in the Prahova Valley.

Overview of your Brasov tour

Though a republic nowadays, Romania boasts more than 80 years of royal past, probably the best times the country enjoyed, an end to which was put by the abrupt Soviet-imposed switch to communism, in the late 1940s. After Ceausescu's overthrow, and the end of communism along with that, in December 1989, the Romanian Royal Family has managed to regain much of the prestige of the past, if not the official quality, and some of the places once important to royalty are now visitable, as some of Romania's most impressive tourist attractions. One such place is Sinaia, "the Pearl of the Carpathians", the most important winter sports resort in the Prahova Valley, also home to three former royal palaces, of which two- the Peles and the Pelisor Castles, are visitable. Another place is Bran, home of the Bran Castle, property of the descendants of the Royal Family, also known for its link to the Dracula myth. The tour will be concluded with the Rasnov fortress, an impressive reminder of times long gone.

Wonderful all day tour with Liviu! Our tour ended up lasting 11 1/2 hours - as Liviu added extra details and stops for us (e.g., a coffee break, the Sinaia monastery, checking into the Busteni cable car, etc.). We especially loved Peles Castle - which is beautiful beyond words. Liviu was warm, fun, very knowledgeable, a great story teller and a pleasure to spend the day with. His English is great and he provided lots of great insights. Highly recommend any tours with him!

This was my first visit to Romania and I had only two days. Liviu gave me a thorough tour of Bucharest on the first day and took me to Transylvania for a day trip on my second day. Liviu is warm, friendly, professional and has such a wealth of knowledge about his country. The two days with Liviu exceeded all my expectations and I learned so much about this fascinating country. Liviu is a fantastic guide and I would 100% recommend him to any of my friends visiting Romania.

FANTASTIC! Liviu is a treasure. He literally took care of us from pickup on our in-bound train platform to seeing us off the next day on our out-bound platform. He was a fount of fascinating information and even delved into his childhood behind the "Iron Curtain." Afterwards, I was tempted to ask him to make room in his schedule to tour us around Bucharest, our next stop. I guarantee you will not go wrong choosing Liviu!

We chose a more relaxed pace of tour to see the Bear sanctuary, Bran and Rasnov in one day with Peles Peliosor and Sinai on a 2 nd day . Liviu was welcoming and punctual taking us in his car with lots of room . His English is excellent and he was very knowledgeable about each of the places we visited . He told us lots of very detailed history in each and took us to excellent lunch stops both days . His ability to skip the line at Peles was priceless !

Your Brasov tour itinerary

The tour starts from Brasov, from the yellow building of the Council House in the Council Square, and we leave Transylvania, heading for Wallachia, the southern historical part of Romania, where we admire the sights of the Carpathian Mountains in the picturesque winter resorts of Predeal, Azuga, Busteni and Sinaia. Sinaia, also named "the Pearl of the Carpathians", offers the remarkable sights of the Peles Castle, built between 1875-1883, as residence of King Charles I of Romania, with an imposing German Renaissance outer appearance and stunning interiors, the Pelisor, residence of King Ferdinand of Romania, and the Sinaia Monastery, built in 1695, in the Brancovan Wallachian style. Crossing back to Transylvania, we head for the Bran Castle, attested in 1377 residence of Queen Marie of Romania, but also renowned for the connection to the dark myth of Count Dracula, based on the real medieval voivode Vlad the Impaler. The Rasnov Fortress is a sample of a peasant fortress of the 14th century. Back to Brasov.
