Iasi tour, a taste of the Moldavian capital

The Eastern traditional principality of Moldavia, nowadays on the territory of Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, had its modern capital at Iasi, also known as Jassy in English. The largest Romanian city in the North-Eastern part of the country, it is the local academic, business and cultural leader and an architectural marvel. In addition to this, the city built on seven hills is surrounded by famous wineries, which makes a visit to one of them a must. These make up a few reasons to pay this place a thorough visit in case you are close by, or even if you happen to be in neighboring areas, so that you may be left with precious memories to remember.

The tour starts from Brasov, driving across the Eastern Carpathians, with a stopover in the Moldavian city of Bacau, with a short city-centre tour. We experience Iasi with a walk along the pedestrian thoroughfare of Iasi, with the monumental buildings of the National Theatre, the Opera, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the stupendous Three Hierarchs Church on the way, all culminating with the majestic sight of the Palace of Culture from Iasi. From there, we continue with the Golia Monastery and the St Spiridon Church, heading then north, for the impressive Iasi University and the University Library, up to the Copou Park, with Eminescu's (the Romanian national poet's) linden-tree. The tour also includes a visit with a wine-tasting session to a cozy winery from the Bucium wine-producing area, close by. The tour is concluded with a drive back to Brasov, or can end in Iasi.
