Kia Ora My name is Robbie and I would love to show you around my home. Except for periods overseas travelling, working on camps in America and working on cruise ships, I have lived here since I was two. It is a fantastic little city - named by Lonely Planet as "the Coolest Little Capital in the World" - with a beautiful harbour, easy to walk around and home to a thriving movie industry (of which I have been a part, working on 14 movies to date). Whenever my overseas friends visit I enjoy taking them on a "tiki-tour" around Wellington; around the Bays, up to Mt Victoria for a scenic view or, time permitting, up to the Brooklyn Windmill. If a walking tour in town is preferred, there's Te Papa Museum, the Cable Car up to the Botanical Gardens, the iconic Beehive and shopping on Lambton Quay. I am happy to adapt the itinerary and times as necessary. A small city by world standards - only 400, 000 population - but with a vibrant theatre and nightlife if that's what you're into, Wellington is also the southernmost capital in the world and the gateway to the South Island via the Cook Strait ferry. Nau mai, haere mai. Come and visit and let me show you my home. 8/7/19 PLEASE NOTE: Due to my "normal" work commitments, as of July 2019, I will need to have at least one month's notice before booking a Tour, particularly in summer. If you are wanting to book within that time-frame, please message me to check my availability. Thank you. I have lived in Wellington most of my life and I love the city. I have been fortunate to have been involved as an extra in a number of films made in Wellington's thriving movie - including the Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong. I have an NZTA issued Passenger Endorsement for my Driver's Licence, as well as my Private Hire Registration. I have also recently had my First Aid certificate renewed. I have recently worked for a year and a half on cruise ships based in England, during which time I enjoyed going on tours with passengers as often as I could.

Overview of your Wellington tour

A half-day Private Tour introducing you to my beautiful home. We will take in the iconic Beehive, the Cable Car and Botanical Gardens, Mt Victoria with its 360deg views of Wellington city and harbour. The Tour will finish at Te Papa Museum (leaving you free to spend your time there or the rest of your afternoon wandering around Wellington). If you're here on a Cruise, because this is a 5-hour Tour, I can only do it once a day. But the start time is negotiable. Please confirm your starting time when you book.

We had a great tour with Robbie, he picked us up right by our cruise ship. He was a fantastic guide and we had a wonderful time exploring and learning all about Wellington and also Maori history. Robbie is open to adapting your itinerary however suits you. Not only did we see everything listed for "The Sights of Wellington Tour", he made time for us to stop at Weta Cave Gift Shop and also helped us pick up some New Zealand Whittaker's Chocolate to bring back to the states. Robbie treated us to a delicious lunch by the harbor. Robbie's photography skills & recommended special pictures were much appreciated. It was a perfect half day tour with so much packed in. We can definitely recommend choosing Robbie as your guide, he is a knowledgeable and easy going guide and you will be very pleased. Greg & Patty

Robbie is a terrific guide in every respect. Our tour was a perfect balance of history, art, and culture with some hidden gems that were not in the guide books. We enjoyed his stories related to Lord of the Rings and the terrific lunch at Three Chocolate Fish. He also provided entertainment and restaurant recommendations including the best fish & chips we have ever had at the Mt. Vic Chippery, near the waterfront.

We only had a few hours in Wellington off of our cruise ship and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Robbie provided one of the best personal tours we have ever been on. Lots of the city highlights, but also numerous hidden gems that we could have never found on our own. Also provided a delicious lunch at a local spot on the water. Was able to pick us up and drop us off right in port as well (not easy in Wellington). Thank you so much, Robbie.

Fantastic tour guide with a great fund of knowledge. It was wonderful to learn more about the Māori culture and the history of Wellington specifically and New Zealand in general. The chocolate fish was a much appreciated added bonus.

We loved our tour of beautiful Wellington! Robbie was informative, engaging, and modified his content/stories so our 7 year old could follow along. He was extremely thoughtful and generous with his time! We would do this tour again. Thanks Robbie!

Your Wellington tour itinerary

I will meet you at your chosen location at your chosen time and from there we will go first to NZ's iconic Government Buildings - the Beehive - followed by a visit to Old St Paul's, a stunning wooden church. After visiting the Botanical Gardens, we will visit the Cable Car, taking a ride down into town where I will show you one of my favourite Wellington secrets (and you can also do some souvenir shopping if you want). We will then drive to Mt Victoria with its 360deg views of Wellington's stunning harbor. (If you are interested we can also visit a popular Lord of the Rings location. ) We will finish with lunch at a local cafe. At the end of the Tour, I can drop you off at either your ship, another location of your choosing, or at Te Papa Museum. (If you wish to walk around Te Papa, give yourself at least an hour. Entry fee is NZ$35pp)
