There is nothing I like better than sharing Wellington’s stories with some great company while we enjoy the best of the city. Together we will customise your tour to create your unique day in Wellington. What to expect - I make your day easy and fun, from our first greeting to our fond goodbye. We will laugh a lot, share stories (and maybe dog photos) and get to know each other. I will introduce you to the city I love, its history, people, scenery, food and drink, beaches and most likely our infamous wind, a defining feature of ‘Windy Wellington’. A bit about me – I’ve lived in Wellington for over 25 years and now call its beautiful Kapiti Coast my home. Having moved around the country for much of my childhood, I can objectively say this is New Zealand’s best city! Having worked in Government for much of my career, I still consult over the winter months. I previously worked front line in Women’s Refuge. I am an avid historian, gardener, animal lover and eco warrior! I volunteer at an animal rescue and justify my knitting/crochet obsession by donating all I make to local charities. I am an experienced, curious traveller, having visited Scandinavia, Europe, UK, Ireland, US, Australia, Bali, China, the Philippines and Chile. I have been a private tour guide since 2017, showcasing Wellington to visitors who wish to experience our fabulous city from an insider’s perspective. I am the owner/operator of a small boutique Wellington tour company with Suzee W. I love connecting with new people and sharing stories about life in Wellington, the world at large and how we make it a better place for everyone… and I love questions! Your choice - Rainforest or the beach? and the city highlights. You can combine your must do city highlights with either a visit to the stunning beaches of the Kāpiti region... Or a trip to Middle Earth as we stroll through an 800+ year old native rain forest. On the way, we will drive through rural landscapes or visit small coastal villages. We'll take a break for lunch at a cozy local café, and of course, there's always time to stop for an ice cream, sample some delicious chocolate, or treat yourself to other local flavour delights! This day trip gives you a little bit of everything Wellington. I will match your tour to your interests, time and energy ensuring you have a truly memorable day with me in our lovely Capital city. Jo was wonderful! We had a highly entertaining day seeing the surrounding countryside. Then Jo went well above any reasonable expectations of a guide when she tracked down the artist for a painting we wanted (but the store would not ship to the US) and developed a scheme to get it to us! It will always be a treasured piece because of Jo’s incredible kindness and our special day. I don’t see how anyone could go wrong spending a day with her!
We had a really fun day with Jo. She has an infectious enthusiasm and love for her city. She took us to the rain forest outside the city, some spectacular coastal viewpoint as well as the city highlights. She gives great background the areas history and environment.
