Hi there, I'm a young at heart, 3 score plus a little bit more female and have lived all my life in the Bay of Plenty. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. We have so much to offer within this area, from a working gold-mine, bush walks, spectacular natural scenery, geothermal activity through to being in the heart of the kiwifruit and avocado growing-region with a few wineries dotted in between. Personally I've completed a business studies degree majoring in tourism and I'm mad about all genre of music. I've travelled abroad to visit friends and family several times and have particularly enjoyed those out-of-the-way experiences that only the locals know about. I drive a limo spec BMW 7 series which is particularly spacious or for a further touch of class come riding in my 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow which is subject to availability! I'm passionate about the area I live in and welcome the opportunity to show it off. I've completed a business studies degree majoring in tourism. I hold a Passenger Service Operator's Licence together with a passenger endorsement (P) on my driver's licence. I also have a First Aid certificate

Overview of your Tauranga tour

This private tour is purely scenic. I can drive you through 2 beautiful gorges, Athenree and Karangahake, then through to Thames, over to Tairua (further north if times permits) then back down the coast to Waihi via Whangamata. I can promise you some of the most spectacular scenery (apart from the South Island's snow-covered peaks) you can experience in New Zealand within the short space of a day. There are many great cafes, wineries and other points of historical interest along the way for as many stops as you like!

Julie is a wonderful guide. She is so knowledgeable about her area. As an added bonus, she has personal history/stories of the places we visited. It was a fantastic day!!

Julie enjoyed giving me a tour of her home territory. She had grown up in the area that she showed me and therefore knew all about it and could explain it to me. I felt privileged to have her as my guide. I learned that the area she lived in discouraged the use of small bottles of water which I understand well for environmental reasons. She took me to a cafe in her community that she knew well that had gluten free food when she heard that this is what I wished to eat.

We spent a wonderful day with Julie in the comfort of her beautiful Rolls Royce. What a spectacular way to tour the Coromandel Peninsula. She is very passionate about this area because of her Family's history here. She is knowledgeable, interesting & fun to be with. Thank you, Julie.

We enjoyed our time with Julie. She had prepared an itinerary with a variety of experiences and was responsive to our interests and preferences. We saw murals, historical sites, a gold mine, and beautiful scenery. We learned a lot about kiwifruit and were amazed by the giant hedgerows around the fields. We had a delicious lunch in a little cafe that we never would have found on our own. It was a good day!

Gary and I thoroughly enjoyed our day with Julie. She had a very interesting itinerary set out for us which was full of surprises and included a visit to her home, which was very special. The scenery was wonderful and we both felt this day was the highlight of our travels in New Zealand. Thank you Julie. And to ToursByLocals. We will certainly book through your company again...Bev Anderson

Your Tauranga tour itinerary

I will pick you up and depending on your interests and time restraints we can include the following: stop at: - The mural town of Katikati - See mining operations both old and new in Waihi - Wander into the Karangahake gorge which offers a fabulous scenic walk of about an hour - Across to the big bottle at Paeroa with its antique shops, and time permitting head across to the coast for some outstanding views before returning to your pick-up point. It's also possible to pick up and Tauranga and drop off in Auckland for this tour however I would need to adjust the price for this.
