Discover Tauranga, the Bay of plenty - Shore Excursion

Great great great tour of Tauranga and its surroundings with Wendy! She is a careful and attentive driver and her minivan is spacious and comfortable. She was very accommodating of the accessibility needs of my son. We started by driving along the beautiful coastline then headed up into the hills. We visited an avocado farm and saw kiwis being harvested from rows and rows of vines. We reached the spectacular McLaren Falls and then continued up to McLaren Falls park. In the park there is an accessible path along a small stream, which we followed to reach yet another waterfall. We heard the rippling stream and beautiful bird songs along the way - calm and peaceful. Wendy generously brought snacks for us to share in a picnic area of the park - what a treat! And she introduced us to rose kiwis - not to be missed and so much sweeter than the green kiwis we get in the US. We took a different route back to the coast and Wendy kindly dropped us off at the beach that has an accessible mat to get us close to the water. We made our way back to our cruise ship via the shops near the port. This is a great way to explore Tauranga - thank you so very much for giving us a perfect day!

Wendy was very personable and provided a tour with extra touches, including a stop at a private avocado farm. We saw apple orchards, ocean scenery, black swans and local residential areas. Overall a great overview of Tauranga.

Wendy kindly took our group on a relaxed tour of Tauranga, with a side trip to the markets and was kind enough to keep things casual and relaxed. Our lunch was a delight and we enjoyed the aircon in the van- it was a very warm day!
