Explore Fes your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Fes tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Fes for every interest, including:

History tours: Step into the Bou Inania Madrasa, view Al‑Qarawiyyin’s historic complex from its gateways, climb to a tannery terrace over Chouara’s dye pits, and explore the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts. Your guide navigates the lanes so you see more and backtrack less.

Art and Culture tours: Visit the Ain Nokbi pottery quarter to watch zellij tilework take shape, then hear brass hammers ring in Seffarine Square while trying simple embossing. You can add a stop at a zellige or pottery studio for a short, guided practice session.

Nature and Wildlife tours: Head into the Middle Atlas to the cedar forests near Azrou to spot Barbary macaques and picnic by Lake Dayet Aoua, or continue to Ifrane National Park for forest walks. These private tours pair gentle trails with local tea stops in small villages.

Fes el‑Bali is best explored on foot; petit taxis link Fes el‑Bali, Fes el‑Jdid, and the Ville Nouvelle, and there’s no metro. For the Middle Atlas, Sefrou, or Volubilis, ask your guide about a chauffeured tour or a tour with private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Fes inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Fes

From Fes, branch out to mountain towns, Roman ruins, and imperial neighbours on easy day trips and private tours that match your pace.

Meknes and Volubilis: Walk grand city gates and the vast water basin in Meknes, then continue to Volubilis for sweeping views and well‑kept Roman mosaics. Great if you like history, architecture, and quiet streets with strong café culture.

Chefchaouen: Head into the Rif Mountains for blue‑washed lanes, small markets, and a steady climb to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint. Ideal for photography, light hiking, and local craft shopping without big crowds.

Ifrane and Azrou Cedars: Cool air, tidy boulevards, and a short hop to cedar forests where Barbary macaques often appear. Good for nature lovers who want relaxed walking and picnic spots far from city traffic.

Sefrou and Bhalil: Explore Sefrou’s compact medina and riverside quarter, then see Bhalil’s cave homes and artisan workshops. Your tour can focus on handmade textiles, everyday food markets, and calm neighbourhood life.
