My name is Ahmed, and I'm a Berber native of the desert south east of Morocco. I was born and raised in a small village in the desert. My family were nomads, but when the oldest of my brothers reached school age, they decide to settle in that village for the reason of being in school. I started guiding tourists in my desert when I was a little boy and upon early adulthood, after my primary school finished, I moved to the nearest big town to continue my schooling. I got my baccalaureate degree and 2 years of Tourism Professional school to become a licensed guide. I'm Certificated as a tour guide by the Ouarzazate Tourism Institute for guides training. After my training finished, I started as a tour guide in Morocco with clients of different agencies for several years. Now, its with great pleasure that I'm with Toursbylocals Team. We went on the 4 day tour from Fès to Marrakech going through the desert, the valleys and the High Atlas. Ahmed adapted the tour perfectly to our little group making stops as needed and choosing activities we liked. The accommodations and food choices were great and Ahmed was patient with our many questions as we explored Morocco for the first time. It was a great experience!
We had a wonderful family trip with Ahmed. Our favorite parts were Fes and Sahara camp. Ahmed did a great job of balancing for our family. Eight days can be a long time all together but Ahmed made sure we had new and different experiences throughout. We were visiting during Ramadan which limited some of our food options during the day but Ahmed always had a plan for us. Our driver was also excellent. Several of us get car sick and despite multiple days of mountain switch back roads none of us felt sick, which is a huge testament to the driver. Ahmed also arranged great local guides in Marrakech and Fes which also added extra interest and true local experiences.
Ahmed is a fantastic guide. We wanted to see the non touristy side of Morocco and that he what he showed us. We hiked in the Djabel Saghro for two days and a mule carried all our gear. We talked to lots of local people and really saw how they lived. Ahmed was warm thoughtful funny punctual and answered so many questions. His driving is 5 star. We saw so many things that tourist wouldn't normally see without Ahmed. I fully recommend him
Ahmed made our first trip to Morocco unforgettable! He was flexible and knowledgeable, personable and fun to be around. We learned so much from him and were blown away by the desert, which was much more beautiful and variable than we ever expected. He was kind and seemed to have friends everywhere we went, and never took us to places that felt overly touristy. We can't recommend Ahmed highly enough - when you leave Morocco, you will feel (like we do) that Ahmed is more of a friend than a guide.
Day 1: Depart Fes toward Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou, then continue across the Middle Atlas to Midelt. Drive through the Ziz Valley, passing Erfoud and Rissani before reaching Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek into the dunes and spend the night in a Berber luxury camp with dinner and breakfast included. Day 2: After sunrise in the Sahara, travel toward the Todra Gorge for a walk between its high rock walls. Continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley, where you stay in a hotel or riad. Dinner and breakfast included. Day 3: Explore the Dades Valley, then drive through the Rose Valley and Ouarzazate. Visit famous kasbahs and film locations before arriving at the UNESCO ksar of Aït BenHaddou. Dinner and breakfast included. Day 4: Visit Aït BenHaddou, then continue to the Telouet Kasbah and cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Arrive in Marrakech for drop-off at your accommodation.
