Hello from Trieste! I am your very local tour guide:) I was born and raised here, and even all of my four granparents were. That's why I'll be able to tell you much about this city, through the memories of a few generations. Trieste's history is particularly interesting especially because of what happened here and around this whole area in the XXth century! I am a licenced local tour guide for this city and the whole Friuli Venezia Giulia region, and I am passionate about it, and my family history. I also love nature and the outdoor, therefore if you want to explore the wild areas and get deeper into the local traditions I can advice about that, too. Trieste is located at the border with Slovenia, some 40 minutes from Croatia, less than two hours from Venice, and in a couple of hours you can get to Austria, too. . . isn't that a great position? Overview of your Trieste tour
Feel the atmosphere of a cosmopolitan city of the 1800, that has been one of the first exemples of a cultural "melting pot" in its glory days! We'll meet at the start of Molo Audace, beautiful viewpoint, then onto to elegant Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, the expression of the highest moment of this city. From there I'll show you the quarter built by Empress Maria Teresa, with the Grand Canal and the orthodox churches. We will then drive to the top of the San Giusto hill, see the roman ruins and visit the Cathedral from the XIV century. Once we're downtown again I'll show you the narrow streets of the old town and the old Jewish Ghetto. After a lunch break, we will drive to the Miramare Castle, the astonishing residence built by Maximilian Hapsburg, and visit this treasure that today makes Trieste very proud, but Maximilian himself could not enjoy for long, since he was made Emperor of Mexico and eventually died tragically over there. I can customize this tour according to your special needs and wishes.
