My name is Narinder, and I was born and brought up in Amritsar, Punjab. I have been working as a professional tourist guide for the past nine years, proudly continuing a family profession that was started by my late father. He used to conduct local tours around Amritsar in his jeep, introducing visitors to the city’s rich history, culture, and everyday life. Although he is no longer with us, I vividly remember the stories and history lessons he shared with me, many of which were rooted in the real lives and experiences of people in Amritsar. His passion for the city and its heritage inspired me to follow the same path and share that knowledge with visitors from around the world. I hold a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from a local college and have also completed several vocational courses to further develop my professional skills. Beyond guiding, I enjoy reading and writing, and I am passionate about learning through travel. During the quieter tourist seasons, I take the opportunity to travel across India and abroad, exploring new places, cultures, and perspectives. I particularly enjoy meeting and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, as every conversation gives me an opportunity to learn something new. For me, being a tourist guide is more than simply showing people around—it is about connecting them with the history, culture, stories, and people that make a place truly special.

Overview of your Amritsar tour

The Wagah-Attari Border is much more than a tourist attraction. It is a place where history, military tradition, national pride, and local culture come together. Watching the ceremony in person allows you to experience the incredible energy of the crowd and witness a unique daily tradition that has become an important part of visiting Amritsar. The main highlight of the tour is the Beating Retreat Ceremony, a daily military ceremony conducted by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers. The ceremony takes place on both sides of the international border and marks the formal closing of the border gates for the day. It features impressive military drills, synchronized marching, ceremonial movements, and the lowering of the national flags. As your guide, I will accompany you throughout the experience and explain the history and significance of the border. I will also share information about the partition of India in 1947 and how it affected Punjab and the people living on both sides .
