I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Roatan. At an early age, I was faced with the decision to work or go to school, so I started looking for the kind of work that would allow me to do both. While looking for a job, a friend told me to come and work as a tour guide in the meantime, and I discovered it was the perfect job for me. I had never thought that tour guiding was a possible job before. I got a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and went on to get what I always thought as a "real job". However, after only one week on the job, I realized that I was not doing what I loved, so I quit and started working as a bar waiter on a cruise ship. I travelled the world for 3 years and got tired of being away from my family for so long, so I came home and started working in the construction industry, but I did not like it either. Then I decided to give tour guiding another shot and immediately fell in love with showing others what is so special about my island and country! The 8 "bay islands" are one of 18 states of Honduras, and Roatan, Utila and Guanaja are the 3 biggest islands. We are part of the second-largest reef system in the world surpassed only by the great burial reef of Australia. I recently started my own tour company where I offer unique experiences full of history, gastronomy, nature, coral reef sightings, and tradition. Overview of your Roatan tour
Discover the highlights of Roatan while you enjoy its spectacular scenery. I will ensure you have a great, unforgettable experience here in our beautiful island. I will share cultural and historical insights of the so called Bay Island and will make several stops along the way, allowing you to get out of the van for some great photo opportunities with tropical hilltop views. We will stop at a monkeys and sloths sanctuary where you will get the opportunity to interact with this local fauna, as well as come across macaws, parrots and many other wild life species. You will even get the chance to feed and pet iguanas and monkeys as they jump on your shoulders, since they're very friendly and accustomed to people. These iguanas live in a sanctuary that has been looking after them for over 4 decades. To wrap up our tour, we'll also be able to visit a little aquarium to see some really cool sea creatures! Your Roatan tour itinerary
-We will start our tour according to where you're located. In case you were docked in Mahogany Bay Port, you'd need to go on a 15 min walk or catch a taxi to reach the gate where we'd meet. If you were on Roatan Village Port, it would take you 8 mins to reach gate 3 where I'd be waiting for you. Otherwise, our tour would start from your hotel/resort's lobby! -Our first stop would be the Sloths and Monkey hang out, for around a half an hour visit. -The first encounter that you will experience will be with around a hundred guinea pigs! -Next you'll enter the home of the sloths, and see a couple of them very high up a tree! -You'll then interact with macaws, the national bird of Honduras! -Next, the monkeys! -After all that, we'll drive to the iguana sanctuary. -Next, we'd see the mini aquarium and discover unique local sea species. -If you'd like to, you'd have the chance to dedicate some time to shopping for souvenirs or products that interest you. -After this, you'd be driven back to your lodging.
