My name is Dimitrios and I'm a Licensed, Qualified Tour Guide, who's been involved in Tourism since 2013. I was born and raised in Meteora-Kalambaka, where my family has lived continuously since the 18th century. I'm a passionate scholar and lover of history and art, plus a deep connoisseur of Meteora. I love to share my knowledge of Greek culture and introduce visitors to my homeland, discussing our geological phenomenon as well as the construction and art of our monasteries. I organize special historical, religious, cultural and hiking guided tours for small or large groups in these monasteries, offering special routes dedicated to introducing monastic life, the frescoes and architecture of the 14th -16th centuries in order to present the history, religion and traditions of Greece to visitors. I graduated from the National Tourist Guides College in Thessaloniki (two & a half years of professional formation with course subjects: history, art history and archaeology). In addition, I studied for another two & a half years at the college of Religious Tourism & Pilgrimage Tours, devoting myself to go more in depth in the religious art of the Middle Ages. From 1993, I started studying Byzantine painting and I maintain a traditional icon painting and restoration workshop in Meteora. Therefore, I have been passionately involved in the study of medieval art. Tours can also be tailored considering a variety of factors. From group size (I offer from private tours to school groups) to age (whether it be for high school students, college students, elderly people, etc. ) and interests (to focus more on the historical, archaeological, or else).
