David Gareja Full-Day Tour

Vazha was an excellent tour guide with a comfortable minivan. He was very knowledgeable about Georgian history and I enjoyed our conversations about modern day Georgia. The drive out to David Gareja has beautiful views especially when you get closer to the monastery. We saw quite a few shepherds on horseback moving sheep with their dogs. You cannot see the upper part of David Gareji with the ancient paintings but the lower part was beautiful too. We also saw Ninotsmanda which was a pretty nunnery.

Vazha was absolutely fantastic as a tour guide. He was really friendly and chatty and was happy to chat and answer our very many questions! He is hugely knowledgeable. He brought us for a gorgeous lunch so if you go out with him you can trust his recommendations.

Vazha provided us with a very informative tour to David Gareja. He went above and beyond by providing us a lovely Georgian lunch at a local restaurant in Udabno nearby. He also organised a reservation in a very nice restaurant for us to see Georgian dancing whist enjoying a Georgian meal. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Even though it was just a day trip, Vazha was excellent. He gave us great insights, was attentive, informative, and very easy going. The tour was well-organised and he made sure we had the most authentic experience possible and asked us about what we want to see, provided us with recommendations/insider about the city. Vazha is great! Highly recommend! :)
