Welcome to Bulgaria! Yes, you have the chance to visit one of very few left in Bulgaria medieval fortresses - Tzarevetz hill in what used to be the capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom - Veliko Tarnovo! Situated on a hill surrounded by the Yantra river, Tzarevetz is possibly one of the best places for you to learn the rich and proud history of the Bulgarian Empire during the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries! Veliko Tarnovo is one of the most spectacular cities in Bulgaria and a visit to the nearby village of Arbanassi is included. What is to be discovered there - just wait!
We will start from your hotel and hit the main road to Veliko Tarnovo. - On our route we will drive through small towns and picturesque villages enjoying the landscape and the scenery. - At arrival we will enter the late 12th century fortress - Tzarevgrad Turnov - the capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. - There you will see where the throne hall was, will enter into the Patriarch's palace church and by looking at the modern murals will learn in brief the whole history of Bulgaria, following the symbolic paintings from 1985. - After Tzarevetz we will go to the village of Arbanassi - an ethnographical reserve, with seven Orthodox churches.
