Hello, my name is Ali and welcome to my tours! I was born and raised in Tasmania, and I welcome you to my unique island home. I offer a number of unique Tasmanian experiences, all of which can be customised to suit your itinerary, interests and abilities. Please don't hesitate to contact me with and queries. Tasmania is the world's most unique island - let me show you why. Tasmanian Devils, wallabies, contemporary art, pristine beaches all to yourself and mountains as far as the eye can see. A tour with me means seeing world famous Tasmanian scenery, but also the best kept local secrets. I understand your time in Tasmania is limited, so I will work hard to ensure you experience Tasmania in a calm, comfortable environment. My tours are a 'click and forget' option; book with me and I will organise pick up, drop off, entry to exhibits and national parks, and your food for the day. I was born and raised in Hobart, Tasmania. While completing a Bachelor of Laws & Business at The University of Tasmania, I began giving tours and have shown over 500 people around Hobart. I have refined my ability to give entertaining, sensitive and insightful tours. A sample of feedback I have received: "Ali was well-informed, charming, personable & objective. I particularly liked that he didn't promote the commercial tourist aspects. Would highly recommend his tour for an entertaining overview of Hobart & its history. " "As a local, Ali our guide, gave magnificent insights and stories about Hobart. I'd suggest to take this walking tour as soon as you arrive, as the guides help you in visiting the iconic places of Hobart with beautiful stories about it, to make you feel one with the land. " Having attended countless tours myself, I intimately understand what separates the mundane and marvelous tours. No two of my tours are the same; I pride myself on customising each tour to my guests, their interests and abilities. 8 years experience as a guide 400+ tours completed Bachelor of Laws with Honours (University of Tasmania) Bachelor of Business (University of Tasmania) NONE

Overview of your Hobart tour

We will begin by exploring a quaint convict built hamlet. See Australia's oldest bridge and Catholic Church. We take a stroll around the exterior of the local prison museum and explore the hidden corners of the town. We stop at the infamous dog line, chained ferocious dogs were placed here during the convict era to raise the alarm when convicts attempted to escape across the isthmus. We also reflect on the indigenous inhabitants of this amazing land and pay tribute to their way of life. A lookout nearby shows great views over the area, a tessellated pavement is natural phenomenon that beggars belief. The epicenter of Australia's convict history follows dark tales abound. A separate prison attempted to break the spirits of these prisoners.

Ali was a delight as a guide and driver. He had so much good information and knowledge being a lifelong resident of Tasmania. We had great conversation and tours along the way as well as at Port Arthur. When we go back to Hobart, we’ll make it a point to visit with Ali and have him as our guide!

What an amazing 3 days my husband and I had with Ali. We customized three tours including: Wineglass bay, Tasman Peninsula/Port Arthur, and Mt. Field National park with drop-off at Bonorong. Prior to our tours, Ali expertly communicated with us and helped us organize three days tailored to exactly what we wanted and then re-confirmed all the details subsequently a few days or so before our trip. And he delivered on all of it! He is professional, flexible, and pretty darn funny too. After nearly 70 countries and countless tour guides over the years, we feel Ali deserves highest recommendations. Thanks for a great time.

Without question, our tour with Ali exceeded our expectations. We would book him again in a heartbeat. He was prompt, accommodating, informative, and easy going. His historical knowledge and insight was also very helpful. We particularly enjoyed talking and learning about his perspective regarding life in Tasmania today. The places we visited were also beautiful, and the lunch and coffee stops were perfect. Overall, a great day!

Ali is a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly and his books car is very comfortable. I had a wonderful day going to Port Arthur and seeing all the stops along the way. We saw the oldest bridge, very pretty brick bridge, and stopped for photos at amazing scenic spots on the Tasman Sea. We stopped for lunch at a lilac farm that had fresh and delicious food. Port Arthur is a on a peninsula with gorgeous views. The place is much more than I expected. Very large and beautiful grounds that belie its notorious past. It is not to be missed if you are in Tasmania. I highly recommend this tour with Ali.

What an excellent way to experience the Port Arthur Historic Site! The Site is a fantastic window into the region’s history as a penal settlement, and its surrounding scenery is spectacular. Ali’s itinerary allowed plenty of time to explore the Site and delve into its storied past, and his informative commentary throughout the day really added to the experience. The tour also included stops to enjoy views of some of the Tasman Peninsula’s impressive coastline, and a visit to the historic township of Richmond. Ali not only provided terrific commentary, but he was great to hang out with for the day (he was also a valuable source of info on Hobart’s food scene). I look forward to being able to return to Hobart and take another of Ali’s tours!
