We will begin by exploring a quaint convict built hamlet. See Australia's oldest bridge and Catholic Church. Learn about the inspiration for Charles Dickens' Fagin and his connection with this village. We take a stroll around the exterior of the local prison museum and explore the hidden corners of the town. We stop at the infamous dog line, chained ferocious dogs were placed here during the convict era to raise the alarm when convicts attempted to escape across the isthmus. We also reflect on the indigenous inhabitants of this amazing land and pay tribute to their way of life. A lookout nearby shows great views over the area, a tessellated pavement is natural phenomenon that beggars belief. The epicenter of Australia's convict history follows dark tales abound. A separate prison attempted to break the spirits of these prisoners. I will tell you the ins and outs of this enigmatic place.
