Hello! My name is Will and there are few things in life I am more passionate about than Tasmania. Born and raised in London, I first visited Tasmania during a round-the-world trip in 2006 and fell head over heels in love with this beautiful, wild island. A few years later I moved halfway across the world to live here: that is how much I love this place! As an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, I know the island's best walks and views. Before becoming a tour guide I worked for ten years as a Biology teacher: I have extensive knowledge of Tasmania's native plant and animal life as well as its natural history and geology. Let me introduce you to the state's extraordinary wildlife and trees, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth! Even to this day, Tasmania remains Australia's "best kept secret". I will gladly let you in on it! Any of my tours can be customized for you. Please simply inquire for a quote! Public Passenger Vehicle Ancillary Certificate, Public Passenger Vehicle service accreditation First Aid Certificate B.A. (Hons) Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences

Mt. Field is a must-see and Will is an excellent guide. We enjoyed fresh-picked cherries and the changing landscape through various farming communities on the way to Mt. Field through the Derwent River valley. Mt. Field is home to diverse microclimates. Our first walk around Lake Dobson through the Pandani Grove was above the tree line at 3000’. Then we took the boardwalk a little way through the Moorland Mosaic where we found a fresh Wombat paw print and its cubic dung. Who knew that finding poop would be so exciting? After a delicious lunch at The Possum Shed (try the BLT), we returned to the park for the Tall Trees Walk, a giant fern and eucalyptus forest, to Russell and Horseshoe Falls. Natural beauty galore! Will's enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge about the flora, fauna and history of the park enhanced an already beautiful journey through the park.

A great tour of Mt Field National Park. Will greeted us at the tour dock, with a sign displaying our name. As we drove to the park, in a pristine KIA, Will filled us in with the history of Hobart. We took several hikes at the park, Will educated us on the plant life and geological formations. On one walk we had the good fortune to see a Wallaby and an Echidna. Will is a science teacher (educated at Cambridge UK) is probably the best person for guided tour of Mt. Fields.

Hobart was exceptional with Will! Our group of world travelers had a tremendous day with Will and even spotted an echidna (sp?) and a pademelon on our walk at Mount Field unusual since they are usually more active at evening/night. We visited a winery, bought fresh cherries and raspberries and learned all about life in Tasmania. We are world travelers and Will was an excellent guide and his love of nature was contagious to one in our group who was not even an outdoor person! Exceeded all expectations!

William was a knowledgeable and friendly person. However the tour description indicated that there would be wildlife but we only saw flora, i.e. forest and landscapes, a little disappointing.

Your Hobart tour itinerary

Departing Hobart at approximately 9am, we follow the valley of the River Derwent - we rapidly leave the city behind us and find ourselves in rolling countryside. As we drive up the valley, mountains appear on the horizon: these are the peaks of Mount Field National Park, a compact but stunningly beautiful area with a remarkable variety of vegetation, wildlife and landscapes. We will begin by exploring the area around Lake Dobson, at an altitude of nearly 3300 feet above sea level. The lake is surrounded by lush forest which we will discover on a beautiful, easy 40-minute walk. Back in the lower level of the park, we will have a light lunch at the park visitor center before our walk to one of Mount Field's centerpieces: Russell Falls. An easy walk leads us to these beautiful waterfalls, surrounded by towering giant ferns.
