Hello! My name is Will and there are few things in life I am more passionate about than Tasmania. Born and raised in London, I first visited Tasmania during a round-the-world trip in 2006 and fell head over heels in love with this beautiful, wild island. A few years later I moved halfway across the world to live here: that is how much I love this place! As an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, I know the island's best walks and views. Before becoming a tour guide I worked for ten years as a Biology teacher: I have extensive knowledge of Tasmania's native plant and animal life as well as its natural history and geology. Let me introduce you to the state's extraordinary wildlife and trees, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth! Even to this day, Tasmania remains Australia's "best kept secret". I will gladly let you in on it! Any of my tours can be customized for you. Please simply inquire for a quote! Public Passenger Vehicle Ancillary Certificate, Public Passenger Vehicle service accreditation First Aid Certificate B.A. (Hons) Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences

Overview of your Hobart tour

The imposing silhouette of Mount Wellington is visible from almost every part of Hobart: this impressive 4, 160-foot mountain is a true symbol of the city. Even though they are only a stone's throw away from the bustling center of town, the slopes of Mount Wellington are a hiker's dream: tracks crisscross the flanks of the mountain, in the shadow of the spectacular Organ Pipe rock formations, surrounded by beautiful native vegetation - some species are to be found only here on the mountain! Discover the Mount Wellington's summit, with its sweeping views down to the River Derwent and across to Tasmania's Southwest Wilderness, the waterfalls which dot its slopes, its mysterious forests and peaceful hiking tracks. Enjoy a gourmet picnic of local produce while taking in some of the most splendid views to be found in Tasmania!

We awoke to fog conditions but Will was quick to offer a modified plan as we waited for weather to clear. We were not disappointed once we arrived at Mt Wellington as the views were spectacular. The picnic lunch was gourmet and absolutely fabulous! Don’t miss this tour with Will.

I had a wonderful day with William as my guide. He is a great driver in a comfortable car going up that winding road to Mount Wellington. We saw fantastic views and William was very knowledgeable about the area. He customized the tour to my needs which I really appreciated. We had a picnic lunch that was a delicious gourmet feast! It was a great and memorable day.

William was an outstanding guide. He met us on time by our ship and then proceeded with a very informative and comprehensive tour of Hobart and Mount Wellington. He also was responsive to the our special needs. And to top things off, we proceeded to a picnic table at the base of Mount Wellington where he treated us to a great lunch. William's 5 star rating is well-deserved.

We recently took a Hobart tour with Will, covering Battery Park, Salamanca Market, and Mount Wellington, and had an incredible experience. William's knowledge of Hobart's history was impressive and he answered all of our questions enthusiastically, ranging from historical to political to cultural. His passion for Tasmania made the tour most enjoyable and exceeded expectations. We highly recommend taking a tour with Will!

Our day in Hobart with Will was magical! I messaged him that we were no longer able to hike, but loved the outdoors. He designed a perfect day for us in Hobart. We went to Bonorong and cuddled a baby wombat. We visited the Botanical Garden, where we learned so much about the local plants. We had lunch beside a river with a view of a 200 hundred year old bridge, constructed by convicts. Will is a wealth of information on all things Tasmanian. He is engaging, kind, and considerate. He is brilliant!

We were planning a more strenuous bush walk, but my husband had blisters from a previous trek. Our guide, Will, adapted immediately - providing band-aids and taking us on an equally beautiful but gentler walk, with a stop at the Cascade Brewery on the way back. Will is a fantastic guide with an extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna. What a GREAT way to find hidden gems and get the scoop on Hobart!

Your Hobart tour itinerary

We will leave Hobart's CBD for the summit of Mount Wellington along the Pinnacle Road, stopping at viewpoints along the way across the Derwent River and d'Entrecasteaux Channel towards the Huon Valley and Bruny Island. The summit affords breathtaking 360-degree views over the city, the area's spectacular coastline and Tasmania's famed wilderness on the southwestern horizon. We will then head a little way down the mountain and explore some of the beautiful tracks so loved by Hobart residents: the Organ Pipes tracks, which follows the bottom of the spectacular vertical rock columns which give it its name, is one of the most beautiful. Surrounded by nature, you will enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic of specially-selected Tasmanian produce while admiring some truly unforgettable views.
