Hello, folks! My name is Hiro. I was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1965 and currently live in western Kyoto. I live in a Kyoto suburb, just 10 minutes from the city center and 45 minutes from Osaka by express train. After finishing compulsory education in Osaka, I attended high school and joined a foreign exchange program, studying at an American public school for a year while staying with a host family. After returning to Japan, I passed the university entrance exam and majored in Business Administration. I joined an international student association, gaining experiences in Singapore, the Philippines, and a six-month traineeship in Germany. Specializing in International Marketing, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I then worked for an electric manufacturing company for over 20 years as an international business staff member and manager. Seeking a new opportunity in tourism, I became a professional driver and sightseeing guide for foreign visitors. I have experience as a taxi driver in Kyoto, one of the most beautiful cultural cities in the world. A few years after starting my taxi business, I refined my skills in advanced driving and Kyoto’s geography, eventually becoming an English-speaking sightseeing driver. I guide tourists unfamiliar with Kyoto, introducing them to Japanese culture and history. I am a private tour guide and driver. Learning English since age 10, I continue improving through my work. Recently, I have been motivated to promote Osaka as it grows in popularity, especially with the upcoming International Expo 2025 and increasing cruise ship arrivals. I want to introduce not only famous attractions like Osaka Castle and Dotonbori but also local culture in areas such as Hozenji Yokocho and Ohatsu Tenjin. I also love showcasing Osaka's famous foods, including Takoyaki (octopus balls), Okonomiyaki (Japanese-style pizza), and "Osaka Ohsho" Gyoza (dumplings). I look forward to hearing from you! A bit about me: I am open-minded and enjoy communicating with people from all backgrounds. I believe in learning from each other. My hobbies include city walks, cycling daily, playing Japanese chess (Shogi), and watching baseball (I’m a big fan of Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers!). I also love food and have tried almost everything served to me! Now nearing 60, I am grateful for my health, my family, and my life.

Hiro was a wonderful guide — it was like hanging out with a good friend. We booked him for our first full day in Japan. He showed us how to use the subway and explained important Japanese manners and etiquette . He’s very fluent in English — we never had any misunderstandings. We also appreciated that he tailored our itinerary to our interests. He also helped us buy...

This was an outstanding tour through Osaka given by Hiro! He was knowledgeable, friendly and showed great care toward my mother. He kept the pace at an appropriate level to allow breaks to rest through the day. We both very much appreciated his knowledge and interest in architecture and how Osaka has changed over years. Every part of this tour was fantastic and very...

Thank you very much for a nice comment, Scott. I am looking forward to seeing you in the future. Please introduce me to your friends if they ever come to Japan.
Hiro lead us on an insiders view of Osaka which we enjoyed immensely. From a Birds Eye perch atop a 40 story building to situate ourselves and view the impressive urban landscape, we subsequently visited the Dotonbori ‘s infinite choice of food offerings. Included was a stop for notching and matcha to refresh ourselves. Along the way we learned some Japanese, and compared...
