Kyoto Highlights Private Tour (Full day)

Kenji was extremely knowledgeable and we learned so much during our tour! We visited a lovely shrine and temple, had a delicious lunch, and then visited the geisha district. Kenji shared a lot about the history of the tea houses, which was very interesting and helped really bring Kyoto to life for us.

Kenji San is amazing! He did a wonderful job showing us Kyoto! He was very prompt and very professional. My husband and I enjoyed our tour with Kenji San. I also love that if I have a question he doesn’t hesitate to answer it. He have a folder that shows us so we can fully understand what we are looking at. We also had an amazing lunch! And it ended up to be one of our favorite meals while in Kyoto! Don’t hesitate to book Kenji San he is the best and you will not regret it! And he also takes amazing photos!

Kenji was the GOAT according to my three teens (ages 20, 18, and 15)! From the moment we booked, he was highly communicative and responsive, making everything easy and stress-free before the tour even began. During the tour, Kenji struck the perfect balance of being knowledgeable, engaging, and fun. My kids genuinely connected with him and stayed engaged throughout the day—a rare accomplishment with teenagers! What really set Kenji apart was how much he taught us about Japanese culture. Beyond the shrines and temples, he explained customs, traditions, etiquette, and everyday aspects of life in Japan in a way that was easy to understand and fascinating. We found ourselves referring back to things he taught us everywhere we went afterward. His explanations gave us a much deeper appreciation for Japan and enriched the rest of our trip. The tour was the perfect length. What looked long on paper ended up being exactly the right amount of time to explore, learn, and experience Kyoto without ever feeling rushed. We never had to think about navigation, timing, or logistics. And the photos! Kenji seemed to know all the right angles and took fantastic pictures throughout the day, allowing us to stay present and enjoy the experience. Friendly, knowledgeable, flexible, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with, Kenji made Kyoto come alive for our family. Kenji was great. Knowledgeable, well-prepared and flexible. I appreciated his help with my somewhat impromptu shopping stops, even helping to find an especially wonderful store selling ceramic art pieces (vs. a lot of the mass market kind of places), and snack stops. His choice of lower profile shrines to avoid the huge crowds was on point. Would enthusiastically recommend Kenji to others.
