Hi and welcome! I've been exploring Bulgaria for decades. I started out as a toddler and carried out ever since. I began guiding over 20 years ago. I love sharing my passion for the country, its culture and nature with others.

The tour will immerse you in the ambience of Plovdiv and its multimilenial history.

We will explore the unique local geography, the syenite hills that gave the city its Roman name - Trimontium, the Old Town, the banks of Maritsa River - the largest inner river in the Balkans.

In the afternoon we shall marvel at Bulgarian Revival Houses and the Ethnographic Museum, the artistic quarter, and more. Depending on your preferences we can enjoy a stroll along the longest pedestrian street in Europe and a visit to the Roman Basilica and its recently unearthed mosaics, or we can spend more time in the crafts neighbourhood where we can also enjoy refreshments.

We will of course visit the must-see Roman theatre which is not only well preserved and operational as a cultural event venue, but also provides unimpeeded views as far as the Rhodope Mountains.

The best of Plovdiv - one day tour

One of my favourite sites in Bulgaria is Plovdiv. Let me show it to you on a one-day tour from Sofia.
The second largest city in Bulgaria, Plovdiv is famous for its beautiful old town, Roman ruins and cobblestone streets. So let us escape from Sofia for one day and visit together Plovdiv.

The European capital of culture for 2019 will make you wish to stay longer.
Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The beginning of its history dates back to 6, 000 years BC. We will explore the old town with the Roman ruins, the cobblestone streets and the Kapana art area. Kapana means trap because it is so easy to get lost in the small streets with the bars & small shops. In the old town, some of the beautiful houses today are museums.
I could customize the tour to Plovdiv with a visit to Staro Zhelezare village famous for its graffiti, to Bachkovo monastery or to a local winery. Other options are the Red church near Perushtitsa or The monument of three generations in Perushtitsa. It depends on your interests.
