I specialize in telling the unique historical stories of Atlanta while focusing on the unique character of Atlanta's fascinating neighborhoods. I find that most people enjoy hearing the intriguing stories about Atlanta's people, especially the ones that made it what it is today. Visitors will like hearing the authentic facts that tie together the threads of Atlanta's past while weaving the quilt of it's future. Visitors want to see Atlanta from a local's point of view. They will see in a short time, what they couldn't possibly experience traveling on their own. You will learn more about those little known neighborhoods that you can't see from the highways or main streets. Visitors will experience and eat at local unique restaurants that few locals even know about. For any visitor considering relocation to Atlanta, you will want to find out more about what unique amenities the city has to offer, like our restaurants, specialty food markets, shopping, schools, parks and recreation. You will be excited about the new Live, Work, Play and Shop concept neighborhoods that are being developed all over Metro Atlanta. I will help you connect the historical dots and give you the best customer service that you will ever experience on a city tour. I can offer you an insider's perspective of Atlanta, while you enjoy riding in the comfort of our limo-like (5) passenger minivan. The tour stops first at the "The Gone With The Wind Museum": The museum boasts items from the famous movie and book. Artifacts from the Civil War, and Gen. Sherman's 1864 Atlanta Campaign along with Margaret Mitchell's and Hollywood's version of Gone With the Wind. Walking into the 1867 Historic Train Depot in Jonesboro, which houses the Road to Tara Museum, there's an authentic "Sherman's necktie, " a section of rail twisted into a loop so it became useless and a hand-painted diorama of the two-day battle of Jonesboro. The next stop, The Margaret Mitchell Home: She started writing the novel here in 1926 and finished in 1929. She made no effort to publish her book until the spring of 1935 when an executive, Harold Latham from McMillian publishing company, came to Atlanta looking for new writing talent. The last stop at Oakland Cemetery at Margaret Mitchell's grave-site. We will drive by Grady Memorial Hospital where Mitchell laid in a coma for 5 days before passing away on August 16, 1949 at the age of 48.
The itinerary will be the following: *Pick up at Local Atlanta Area Hotels *The Road to Tara Museum Jonesboro GA *The Margaret Mitchell House *Lunch Break (Optional / On Group) *Oakland Cemetery (Margaret Mitchell Graveside) *Return to Hotel Tour can be customized upon request.
