I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and have lived here my entire life. I have witnessed this area thrive with the steel industry operating at its peak and watched its decline as steel mills closed. Since the decline of the steel industry, Pittsburgh has enjoyed a renaissance where high tech and medical industries have grown and now dominate the business landscape. Barren industrial properties along the riverfront have become biking and walking trails, residential neighborhoods, and shopping and commercial developments. I grew up in the steel town of McKeesport, located 15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh along the Monongahela River. Despite living here my entire life, I feel like I have become a tourist in my own hometown, for it has become a "new" city compared to the one I knew as a child. I studied at Carnegie Mellon University and received a B.S. in Chemistry. Then I studied at the University of Pittsburgh and received a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology. As with most Pittsburghers, I am an avid sports fan always rooting for the Steelers, Penguins, and the Pirates. I also enjoy the arts scene in the city, especially the theatre tours that come through Pittsburgh. I continue to be a student of history, especially with regards to the evolution of the city. I am a proud Pittsburgher and look forward to meeting you so I can show off my town!

I will take you on a 3-hour tour of this city that I proudly call home. Pittsburgh was vital to the industrial development of this country and continues to contribute significantly to medicine and technology. I watched it transform from a "smoky" city to one that is green and leads the world in environmental advances. Together, we will cross all three rivers that flow through Pittsburgh (Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio) to explore many of its more notable neighbourhoods. We will also stop at panoramic outlook locations so you can capture photos of Pittsburgh's notable skyline. On this tour, I'll introduce you to the city and open the door to its sites, museums, parks, and entertainment venues so you'll know where you'll want to go during your stay.
·Our tour will begin in Downtown Pittsburgh, also know as the Golden Triangle, from where we'll drive through the historic Strip District & pass through downtown's cultural district. ·Next, we'll depart Downtown and drive along the Monongahela River ("the Mon") to visit Oakland, the University district, home of the Carnegie Museum & Library. ·We'll continue through Pittsburgh's East End neighbourhoods of Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze & Bloomfield (Little Italy) to see the juxtaposition of old & new. ·We'll then depart from the East End & cross the Allegheny River to reach the North Shore, primarily known as Pittsburgh's home of the Steelers & Pirates. ·Afterwards, we'll cross the Ohio River & ascend to the West End Overlook for a classic view of Point Park & the confluence of the 3 rivers. ·Our tour's finale will take us to Mt. Washington so you can capture the "money shot" of Pittsburgh's skyline near its 2 inclines.
