Greetings and welcome to Pittsburgh! My name is Mary Ann and it will be my pleasure to show you around what locals refer to as "The Burgh". I specialize in well organized high end relaxing tours. It is my wish that all of my guests enjoy their time spent in Pittsburgh. I will work with you to ensure the best experience possible. Pittsburgh is a city in southwestern Pennsylvania situated on three rivers and rich in history, culture and tradition. Currently, I live in the Mt Washington neighborhood which overlooks the city and is home to the famous Monogahela and Duquesne inclines. Mt Washington is centrally located making it easy to customize the flow of your selected tour package (based on your hotel location) so we are able to manage our time wisely. In addition, I was born and raised just south of the city so I am quite familiar and able to navigate in the outlying areas as well. From Oakland to the North Side, or the Strip district to the South Side and many points in between, it will be my pleasure to share the many mysteries of Pittsburgh with you! The Appalachian Mountains run through PA and create the watershed where Fallingwater is located in Fayette County, PA. Fallingwater was built in the small town of Bear Run, just about an hour and a half drive south of Pittsburgh in the Laurel Highlands. Fallingwater is the only major Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house to open to the public with its furnishings, artwork, and setting intact. It instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic Landmark. Visited by over 167, 000 people in 2015. Our tour guide Mary Ann, was superb. Clearly so knowledgeable about Pittsburgh and surrounds, and also personable and pleasant, Mary Ann made the tour truly worthwhile and memorable. The tour through the Fallingwater house was most interesting, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in architecture.
The Falling Water tour was the best experience of my stay in Pittsburgh by far - A wonderful destination with a wonderful host - Mary Ann is a superb guide - full of enthusiasm for the area and very knowledgeable about Pittsburgh -going out of her way to point out places of interest and fill me in with facts about the area - Falling Water is a must see when in the Pittsburgh area and I fully recommend a tour with Mary.
I went to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house with Mary Ann in October. She was a great guide. She was especially helpful in explaining how the tour worked, so that I could get the most out of the experience. She was also very accommodating and worked hard to make the entire day a fun time. Barb
Mary Ann is so personable and made my trip special for me. She also provided some great recommendations for restaurants in Pittsburgh.
The route will be determined based upon your pick up location: -Depending upon weather and traffic conditions the drive will be aprox 1. 5 hours. -Departure time will be 8-8:30 am. -Arrival around 10 am at Fallingwater. Plan on spending no less than 2 hours on site. While on site you are able to visit a small historical museum, a gift shop, a cafe, and rest rooms prior to your house tour. You may also do a quick nature walk around the grounds. (Comfortable shoes are a MUST as there are numerous gravel paths and steps to navigate) Once we depart the site we will stop for a lunch at one of the many local establishments. You will be returned to your hotel afterwards.
