Overview of your Pittsburgh tour

Fallingwater stands as one of the greatest architectural triumphs of the 20th Century. Let me take you to its location astride Bear Run in the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Pittsburgh businessman Edgar Kaufmann, Fallingwater provides a "Serendipitous Synergy" unequalled in the world. Along the way you will learn the story of America's First Superhighway : the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

It was an interesting and informative trip with George DeBolt. Historical facts as well as anecdotal information. A great way to get to Fallingwater if you don’t want to drive the distance.

We enjoyed our tour by local with George to Falling Water. He was a good communicator before and during the trip, giving us options or recommendations. We were given a great history of Pittsburgh during our drive and he made a special effort to get to know us and some of our likes (and dislikes). We had enough stops for comfort and choices in where to grab a quick bite before our return. It was a great experience.

George is a fantastic tour guide. On our way to Fallingwater he explained the geology, industry, societal and historical background to Pittsburgh and all the reasons why Fallingwater is where it is. He has such a deep knowledge of the area and pride for Pittsburgh, and he delivers it all in his own unique high-energy way. One of a kind - Amazing!! buckle up and enjoy the ride. Cian & Marian

Your Pittsburgh tour itinerary

Six hours from your starting point to the end of the Tour. If you are starting from Downtown Pittsburgh, Greetree, or Oakland we will take the Parkway Easy to America's First Superhighway - The Pennsylvania Turnpike. Heading East we will cross over the first range of the Allegheny Mountains to the Laurel Highlands. Then it's down through Indian Creek Valley to the entrance of Fallingwater. We will return via the same route. The ride will be filled with an extensive narration in both directions regarding Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania, and even the history of the highway. A meal stop may be made for an additional charge. There will be a surcharge for those Tours starting from a point west of Greentree as it is in the direction AWAY from the route to Fallingwater.
