Overview of your Pittsburgh tour

The steel from Pittsburgh's Monongahela Valley built America and served as Ground Zero for "The Arsenal of Democracy" in two world wars. You will learn how Pittsburgh became the Gateway to the West, Steel Capital of the World, and now the Silicon Valley of the East. Follow in the footsteps of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev who followed this same route when he visited during the Eisenhower Administration.

Best Tour EVER! George is a true Pittsburgh Gem! The tour itself was packed full of interesting facts and well thought out itinerary. George was so flexible with our group, personalizing the experience on the fly when needed for my students and myself. We are from a local small town and George went out of his way to incorporate our town's history into this tour which made the learning even more authentic and meaningful to the kids and served to enhance our experience even more. He put the work into our trip well before the date which made for a smooth day with no problems. We had 33 6th grade students on a school bus and George not only held their attention for 3 hours, he also had them thinking well past the time our tour ended. I've traveled the world, but found the most interesting, knowledgeable, friendly tour guide right in my hometown! Love Pittsburgh! Love the people in it! Thank you George! I'll be back!

George was an excellent guide and his enthusiasm, knowledge of local history and style of presentation were most appreciated for our Fire in the Valley tour.

My friends and I booked George’s Fire in the Valley tour about Pittsburgh’s steel production history which was terrific. George was charismatic, funny, knowledgeable, and intentional. He even let / made me reenact the iconic tunnel scene from Perks of Being a Wallflower which made me tear up. This tour gave us an engaging and memorable introduction to Pittsburgh which we’ll remember for years to come.

George took 4 of us on the Fire in the Valley tour and it was EXCELLENT, the perfect thing to do on a cold day. He was incredibly knowledgeable, fun to chat with, and super engaging. This is a totally analogue tour, which made it even better. 100% recommend.

Would highly recommend this tour to visitors and locals! We are local to PGH and this year decided on a ‘staycation’ and wanted to do a tour to better understand more of the history of Pittsburgh and the steel mills. George delivered! He picked us up in his car and drove us around to different sites the whole time pointing out things or discussing something with us or asking us a question. He made it really engaging with various visual aids and some fun audio feedback. We had both understood some of the history but George’s deep knowledge of PGH past and present helped us really better understand the city- our city- and the full picture of what made this city so significant. George was also a lot of fun. If you want to learn and have fun this is a good one.

George was wonderful! The tour was our favorite part of visiting Pittsburgh. You can tell George has a passion for sharing his knowledge and stories about not just the steel mill histories but the city itself. The tour takes you behind the scenes, places you'd pass by not knowing interesting history happened there. We would most definitely take another tour hosted by George.
