George was a phenomenal guide! Do yourself a favor and take a tour with him. We had a 90 minute drive each way with 9 women who hadn't seen each other in three years and he kept everyone's attention! No small feat. He was fascinating, informative, congenial and fun. At the end of our day I still felt like there was more he could have told us. Can't recommend him highly enough. His love of Pittsburgh is so immense it is like nothing you have ever seen. He answers any and all questions and if he does not know the answer he tells you. George was entertaining and knowledgeable on a wide range of topics. He had maps and binders on hand, loaded with info about all things Pittsburgh and Frank Lloyd Wright. It was always a back and forth conversation, and not once did anything sound like a lecture or canned material. He even had these big "gameshow buzzer" things on his dashboard for right/wrong answers. Definitely take a tour with George- worth every dime!
Your Pittsburgh tour itinerary
We'll begin at the Pittsburgh International Airport and travel into the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. Between the Laurel and Chestnut Ridges of the Allegheny Mountains, you'll find two architectural masterpieces designed by the Greatest American Architect of the 20th Century: Frank Lloyd Wright. You'll first visit Fallingwater, a recently designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. With the design of this home, Wright revitalized his career and released American Architecture from the bonds of the International School. Then, after claiming his position as America's Premier architect, he was asked to design a more modest dwelling for the local Hagen Ice Cream family which would be a year-round residence just 10 miles down the road. This will be your second stop. Between the two homes, you'll stop at the picturesque Ohiopyle Falls of the Youghiogheny River.
