We'll begin at the Pittsburgh International Airport and travel into the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. Between the Laurel and Chestnut Ridges of the Allegheny Mountains, you'll find two architectural masterpieces designed by the Greatest American Architect of the 20th Century: Frank Lloyd Wright. You'll first visit Fallingwater, a recently designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. With the design of this home, Wright revitalized his career and released American Architecture from the bonds of the International School. Then, after claiming his position as America's Premier architect, he was asked to design a more modest dwelling for the local Hagen Ice Cream family which would be a year-round residence just 10 miles down the road.
