Hey ya'll! My name is Steve and I am excited you're thinking about joining me for a fantastic, fun adventure in the Nashville and Tennessee locale! Remember, if you don't see a tour agenda you like, I can always customize one for you. In fact, the majority of the tours I guide are just that. Just message me! Originally from Texas, I moved to Nashville in 1992 and started giving private guided tours the very next year. I was drawn here for the music, became a professional songwriter on Music Row in '93 for Ten Ten Music, the same folks who introduced and managed Alan Jackson (whom I met a sang with on one of his Christmas albums!) and Keith Urban (who I had the privilege of hanging out with one on one and wrote a song with!); and went on to write for Starstruck (Reba McIntyre's company), and MCA. During my time on the Row I got to meet or spend time with pretty much every artist of the 90's and early 2000's, from Garth to Chesney, Chestnutt to Reba, and usually have a story to tell about any of those from that era. Having had several major artists record my songs, I left the business after 7 years and started a successful pool construction company, built swimming pools over 22 years for the likes of Jason Aldean and many others, sold the company in 2022 and semi-retired, to be able to spend more time doing what I REALLY love, showing people the charming and often hidden side of our enchanting city from a local's point of view. I'm a travel buff, having put together tours in Italy, other distinctive cities such as Charleston, Chattanooga, Charlotte, Memphis, Sedona and many more. I like to focus on the inside stuff, little known knowledge that will make the tourist feel like an insider after the tour. A music buff, studying and researching the history of country, blues, rock and alternative. We can talk about the musicians, artists and songs that make us laugh, move and cry! A history buff, having traced my own roots to their beginnings in the deep south. And researched the Civil War battles and paths that crossed our Middle Tennessee region, especially the journey of one I share my surname with, General John Bell Hood. I'm also a food buff, literally trying 100s of local restaurants, taking notes on them and their fare to share with others. Most of all, I'm a people buff! I love people in general! And my goal is to give my tour groups the amazing immersive experience of Nashville and Middle Tennessee that they would get nowhere else! Come join me for a unique and memorable blast of an adventure!! A private tour guide for Nashville and surrounding area for 31 years. Former professional staff songwriter for Ten Ten Music, Starstruck Publishing, and MCA Music. Recipient of multiple national and Tennessee state APSP awards for best design and build of swimming pools as owner and builder. Long standing member of the Better Business Bureau. Small group leader and Head Usher at local church. None.

An exciting Civil War journey from where the Tennessee battles began between Schofield and Hood's armies, and ended facing Hood's former West Point instructor, Gen. George Thomas, with all the bloody, horrific clashes in between and stories of acts of unbelievable courage and sacrifice. Includes visits to the very hills and earthworks and manually shoveled ravines still visible and accessible. Although this is an half day tour, it is actually an overview, engaging an extensive number of different stops at a swift pace. This is not a slow, tedious nodding-off in the sun tour. You will not be bored. It does not include any inside the home tours, everything is from the outside; your guide will advise as to what inside tours you should come back and take if so desired. We will be driving by sites or walking through battlefields, with ample opportunities for stunning photos.
I will pick you up at a predetermined place of your choice in the vicinity of Nashville, typically your hotel or AirBNB, but I am flexible. We will walk battlefields, farms, plantations, a cemetery, remains of forts, see monuments, and primarily go right along the same path that Hood and Scholfield marched as they battled all the way to Nashville. Then we'll continue toward Nashville, ending at Fort Negley. Pace can vary with each tourist but the target is to be done in 3 and a half to 4 hours.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
I can take up to 6 passengers in my Highlander. Back seat's a little tight for 3 but two fit nicely. Private transportation is provided or we can meet in Franklin. If you have 7-10 people we'll have to rent a van. Fee for that is an additional $600. If that's the case message me and I'll do a custom tour and send you the link to book it.
