Oxford's dreaming spires have inspired writers and creators of fantasy worlds for generations - including the makers of the Harry Potter movies. This guided walk will take you to many of the locations where Harry Potter was filmed, as well as giving you an introduction to this world-famous university city. You will understand why Oxford was chosen for so many wizarding world locations as we wander round its atmospheric gothic streets. The tour starts at Christ Church college, home to Hogwarts dining hall, the staircase where Harry and friends first encountered Professor McGonagall, and the medieval cloisters where Harry started to learn about his father. It's also where Alice in Wonderland grew up! Then we will travel through the historic centre of Oxford to view Hogwarts library and Infirmary aka the Bodleian Library and Divinity School. We will end at New College, where the fourth Harry Potter was filmed (including Draco Malfoy's tree!).
We will: - take a tour of Christ Church college and see where multiple scenes from Harry Potter were filmed, including the famous Hogwarts staircase and the great hall - see where Alice in Wonderland grew up and Lewis Carroll wrote his famous children's books - visit Christ Church cathedral, which dates back to 1150 and contains the shrine to a Saxon princess who became Oxford's patron saint after doing some magic of her own - walk through the historic centre of Oxford, via Radcliffe Square, the University Church and All Souls College - visit the glorious medieval Divinity School, used in multiple Harry Potter films, and the outside of the Bodleian Library, where Hogwarts Library was filmed - see the Bridge of Sighs and a dark alleyway akin to Diagon Alley which houses a tavern where the cast of Harry Potter used to hang out while filming - visit New College, whose famous cloisters hosted a pivotal Harry Potter scene - also visit New College's glorious chapel and dining hall, and wonderful gardens
