Join me on this tour to learn all about the Belfast side of the Titanic story and the role and experience of the men and women who built the ship and worked in the shipyard. The tour begins at the old quayside from which Belfast exported its linen, whisky, engineering products and tobacco to the world for over 150 years. We'll also see the modern heart of the new Titanic Quarter which is now offices, colleges and flats. I'll also take you to the former Harland and Wolff shipyard where the famous and doomed luxury passenger liner the Titanic was designed and constructed for the White Star Line. You can stand on the slipway from which the ship was launched in 1911. You will also see historic ships. The SS Nomadic, the last remaining White Star Line ship that ferried passengers to the Titanic on its fateful maiden voyage in 1912. Also on display is HMS Caroline, the last warship afloat that fought at the 1916 Battle of Jutland, the greatest naval battle ever fought.
START: The tour departs from outside the Customs House, Queen Square (meet by the bronze speaker statue). The tour will pass a number of sculptures known as the Glass of Thrones, six giant, stained glass windows depicting some of the most iconic scenes from HBO's Game of Thrones series. You can pose for photos on the iron throne! We will then pass the SS Nomadic, last remaining White Star Line ship in the world. The Nomadic operated out of the French port of Cherbourg to ferry passengers from the dock side to the liners out at sea. From there we'll pass Titanic Belfast Museum and head out to the slipways where the Titanic was built and launched in 1911. Again, there are lots of opportunities for photographs! Our next stop is HMS Caroline, a First World War-era cruiser preserved as a floating museum. The tour ends 1. 5 hours later at the Thompson Dry Dock. This huge engineering marvel was where giant ships like the Titanic could be repaired. *This tour can be customised. Please contact me to discuss.
