Overview of your Lucerne tour
Join me on a local experience to Mount Stanserhorn. Within just one hour of leaving Lucerne you will be taking in the Alpine scenery from the top of Mount Stanserhorn at 6,227 feet ( or 1,897 feet). Your experience includes a ride in one of the first open air cable cars. It is called the Cabrio and the top deck allows unobstructed photos and views as you make your way to the mountain top. At the top there are views of Lake Lucerne, the Bernese Alps, Swiss villages and more. Those can be enjoyed in nature or in the comfortable setting of a restaurant that rotates 360 degrees. For those who like a more activity there is the opportunity to hike 10 minutes to the summit. This is a Swiss adventure is suitable for all especially if you do not want to spend all day getting to the mountains.
Your Lucerne tour itinerary
The journey begins in Lucerne - we take the Swiss transport system from Lucerne Train Station to Stans in the Canton of Niewalden. It is about a 20 minute ride. After a short walk down the street from the Stans Train station we reach the Stanserhorn funicular railway that dates back to 1893. We take that followed by an open air cable car to the top of Mount Stanserhorn. There will be time at the top for photos, rest and relaxation, a snack or even a short hike. Afterwards we will return to Lucerne using the same transit and end our tour at the Bahnhof .
