By far the most popular excursion from Lucerne, this half-day trip to Mount Pilatus is an experience you won’t forget. Your journey begins with a scenic boat ride from Lucerne to Alpnachstad. From there, the world’s steepest rack railway carries you up to Pilatus Kulm (please note: the boat and cogwheel railway operate only from May 12 this year). At 2,132 meters above sea level, you’ll enjoy an extraordinary panorama over lakes, alpine peaks, and the Lucerne region. A breathtaking descent follows: first by aerial cable car, then by gondola, bringing you down to Kriens. From there, a short bus ride returns you to Lucerne. This tour does not include walking or hiking time in the mountains. If you’d like to add a short walk or a longer hike, just let me know and I’ll adjust the itinerary for you. For larger groups, I can arrange a restaurant reservation on the mountain. If you prefer self-service dining, no reservation is needed.
We had a FABULOUS tour with Cristina! Cristina was the best guide we have ever had and was the best in Switzerland for us. She is so engaging and so knowledgeable. Just can't say enough good things about her - just take her tours! we booked back-to-back tours with her for the day and they were both wonderful. We had a group of 6 and all of us agreed that Cristina was the best of all tours we booked in Switzerland. Such a fun and enriching day for sure! Just book it!
Our day trip to the top of Mount Pilatus was nothing short of spectacular. Cristina patiently guided us on the use of the local bus system, the boat and the cog rail. Traveling above the clouds to be surrounded by the Alps was a highlight of our entire trip. Even while she was providing us historical and practical information, Cristina was very personable and friendly. When we said our goodbyes at the end of our tour, it was like parting with a family friend. We can recommend touring with Cristina without reservation! 5 STARS!
Christina was a wonderful tour guide...full of energy, knowledge and just all around lovely. We spent a day with her touring Lucerne, including Old Town, the Lion Monument, the covered bridges. Then we took a bus and cable cars to top of Mt Pilatus. She was solicitous, making sure we were comfortable. We never felt rushed. Would highly recommend for a quality tour.
Our group of 8 were lucky enough to have Cristina Fernandez as our tour guide for the Mt. Pilatus and Walking Tour of Lucerne. We all agreed that this was a highlight of our time in Switzerland. She was knowledgeable, professional, all things a good guide should be with the added bonus of sharing fun insights and stories that added to our experience. Definitely 5 stars!
