Hello! I'm Akiko. I am a national government licensed guide interpreter and a certified domestic tour conductor in Japan. I became a guide because I wanted to share the history, culture, and craftsmanship of Japan with visitors from around the world. I specialize in central Japan, especially Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya. In Nagoya, we explore historic castles and shrines connected to Japan's samurai history, as well as lively modern districts. I live in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, a world-renowned center of sword-making and cutlery production with over 700 years of history. Here you can experience the living tradition of Japanese craftsmanship. By combining Nagoya's samurai heritage with Seki's blade-making culture, I offer a unique perspective on Japanese history that goes beyond typical sightseeing. I developed my English communication skills through teaching and years of guiding experience in Japan. I prioritize your safety and comfort at all times. I am also happy to adjust the tour based on your interests, pace, and preferences to create a personalized experience. Most of my tours are conducted using public transportation, but I am happy to arrange a taxi if it is more convenient. I really hope you will have a great and enjoyable time in Japan. I look forward to meeting you in Nagoya!

Overview of your Nagoya tour

How about taking one day trip to Seki City from Nagoya City by highway bus? It takes about 80 minutes, and you don't transfer. Seki City is famous for blade making for more than 700 years. The traditional techniques of swordsmiths are still used today to produce high-quality kitchen knives. Let's visit the Seki Traditional Swordsmith Museum to learn how Japanese swords are made and see beautiful blades. Next to the museum is Seki Kasuga Shrine, which is dedicated to the guardian deity of swordsmiths. You will also explore the Feather Museum, themed around cutting and shaving. At the Gifu Seki Cutlery Hall, you can see hundreds of kitchen knives and even try a knife-sharpening experience. (This activity may not be available at times.) The Seki Traditional Swordsmith Museum admission fee: 300 yen. One-way highway bus fare: 1,200 yen. Buses run only about once an hour, so please be careful with the schedule.
