Hello! I'm Akiko. I am a national government licensed guide interpreter and a certified domestic tour conductor in Japan. I became a guide because I wanted to share the history, culture, and craftsmanship of Japan with visitors from around the world. I specialize in central Japan, especially Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya. In Nagoya, we explore historic castles and shrines connected to Japan's samurai history, as well as lively modern districts. I live in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, a world-renowned center of sword-making and cutlery production with over 700 years of history. Here you can experience the living tradition of Japanese craftsmanship. By combining Nagoya's samurai heritage with Seki's blade-making culture, I offer a unique perspective on Japanese history that goes beyond typical sightseeing. I developed my English communication skills through teaching and years of guiding experience in Japan. I prioritize your safety and comfort at all times. I am also happy to adjust the tour based on your interests, pace, and preferences to create a personalized experience. Most of my tours are conducted using public transportation, but I am happy to arrange a taxi if it is more convenient. I really hope you will have a great and enjoyable time in Japan. I look forward to meeting you in Nagoya!

Our journey begins at Nagoya Castle built by Tokugawa Ieyasu to demonstrate his power. Standing before this impressive castle, you may begin to understand how the Edo period lasted for 260 years. For the time being, we are not allowed to enter the keep but we can enjoy Honmaru Palace, a gorgeous residence built for the ninth son of Ieyasu and later it was used for the place where Tokugawa shogun stayed. Next, we will visit Osu Shopping Street, which was once part of the castle town in Edo period. Today it is a lively district where historic temples and shrines stand alongside hundreds of small shops. It is a popular tourist attraction, and it also offers a glimpse into people's daily life. You will visit two places where you can experience the atmosphere of both old and modern Nagoya! Nagoya Castle admission fee: 500 yen One-day subway pass: 760 yen(620 yen on weekends) You can get a 100 yen discount on Nagoya Castle admission by showing a one-day pass.
