My name is Eiko. When I was in my twenties, I worked as a cabin attendant for an international airline. I've traveled around the world and visited more than 30 countries. It's been a while since then, and most things are vague at the back of my mind, but I still clearly remember small talks exchanged with locals, and interesting stories I heard from guides. Some personal touch goes the extra mile and makes your trip special. I would like to be a guide to be remembered and make you smile whenever you cast your mind back to the trip to Japan. While raising two daughters, I studied English hard to be a teacher and an interpreter. I enjoy being a teacher and I realized that I like talking and get to know people. I worked as an interpreter in business world as well. I certainly enjoyed the job, but now I want to do something different. Guiding a tour has been my dream job, but I was always too busy, then COVID 19 pandemic came. A lot of my work is gone, and I am not as busy as I used to. Now that I think the COVID 19 was a blessing in disguise. It has given me a chance to be a tour guide. Also, I've turned 60. Sixty is an important age in Japan and many leave their job and start to have more relaxing life, as we believe that we are reborn at the age of 60. Look at my birthday picture. Wearing a red vest and a cap to show that you are a baby again! Red-chan means "baby" in Japanese. I would like to start my new life being a guide and get to know more people from abroad. Welcome to Nagoya, and my place in Okazaki! National Licensed Tour Guide #418 English Proficiency Test Grade 1 English- Japanese Professional Interpreter TOEIC 975 Contact me before making a reservation. I want to make sure what you expect to see is open and available.

Overview of your Nagoya tour

Welcome to Nagoya! Not many people know it but Nagoya was the center of Japan in the 15th century. Our lord Tokugawa Ieyasu was born here and known as first shogun as in "Shogun", in a novel, movie and recent drama series "Shogun". Tokugawa shogunate lasted 270 years without civil conflicts. He laid foundation of Japan's political and educational system during the early modern period. Nagoya Castle was built as a symbol of his power. You will be amazed how luxurious the inner screen and walls of the palace are. In the 19th century, a very special person, Toyoda Sakichi, the founder of today's world-famous Toyota Motor Corporation, was born here. Toyota Commemorative Museum traces Toyota's origins as a textile machinery manufacturer, which turned into a global auto giant, Toyota. You will get to know his struggle and its evolution in the museum.

Eiko is the best guide and provided an exceptional tour. She speaks excellent English, took care of all the sights and timing so we enjoyed the day immensely. The osu shopping district bargains were fantastic. We enjoyed the best day ever learning about Japan.

We had an absolutely wonderful day with Eiko. The communication was excellent from the time we booked the tour, and Eiko asked for our preferences to ensure she included all our requirements. She met us at the port as we disembarked our cruise ship, and instantly we knew we were going to enjoy the day as she is so friendly and speaks perfect English. It was raining, and she had even brought a spare umbrella for us - very thoughtful. She even gave it to me at the end of our tour! We caught the train into Nagoya (Eiko had already bought our tickets), and the conversation flowed effortlessly as we explored Nagoya Castle, the Toyota museum and then had a delicious meal at a tempura restaurant. Eiko explained all the different food we received, and how to eat it. It was the perfect end to a memorable day. I strongly recommend Eiko and ToursByLocals, as I feel sure you’ll have a great day

Eiko was an excellent guide. She was friendly, informative and knew exactly how much history was just enough. She extended the tour for an additional hour without any additional charge because my group of six were having so much fun. If you can do a tour with Eiko, you will be in great hands.

Eiko S. was THE best tour guide we have ever had. Wonderful and professional, in the perfect mix. She met us with a huge smile and made our trip easy, informative, fascinating, fun, and well thought out. She not only is an effective communicator, she excels in getting to know each of her participants and catered to our needs. Her thoughtful planning included helping us navigate the terrible heat and her flexibility and understanding of the area, made each stop perfect. She knew and planned each photo stop where she knew we would get the best angle and best view. We visited the Toyota Commemorative Museum, Nagoya Castle, and other local shops along the way. What a gem!
