Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche" (2000-2001) I attended a seminar on Contemporary Art, Management and Settings at the Ara Pacis in Rome (2009) According to my country regulation, my guidance is allowed inside museums, archaeological areas, cities and more. Not only Pompeii is worth seeing and exploring: you cannot miss Herculaneum as well! A small part of the ancient city is visible to visitors, but enough to understand its beauty. The visit of Herculaneum will give you a sense of wealth in Roman times. With a population of about 3, 000 inhabitants, Herculaneum was abruptly destroyed and covered in ashes by the famous Vesuvius' eruption dating back to the 79 AD. For the layer of mud was very thick and consistent, the city has survived to us in almost perfect conditions: two-storey houses, carbonized wooden objects, frescoes and mosaics are incredibly well preserved. The tour by Felicia was outstanding! She is very very knowledgeable about Ercolano and knew every detail it seemed. Being a Restorer that's worked at the site made it very informative and insightful. We all gave it a double thumbs up and highly recommend!
We were delayed for our tour due to rental car issues and couldn't make our tour the day we had booked. Felicia was incredibly understanding and although she couldn't accommodate us on another day, she and Tours by Locals set us up with an equally fantastic tour guide! We were so relieved to still do the tour and even though we can't rate Felicia for her knowledge (which I've no doubt is excellent) her compassion and assistance for our predicament did not go unnoticed. I highly recommend this company
What a wonderful two hours we spent with Felicia at Herculaneum. We really felt like we got to know the town and something of what it was like to live there two thousand years ago. Felicia has a fantastic knowledge of the area and it's history and speaks such good English that we had no problem talking in detail about the many cultures and civilisations that shaped the area. Well worth every penny.
