Welcome! My name is Roberto. I am an Archaeologist and an official Tour Guide of Italy I obtained bachelor degree in Cultural Heritage, master degree in Classical Archaeology and the diploma of Post-Graduate School in Archeological Heritage. I have been an licensed guide of Campania Region (Italy) since 2011 and I have also worked as an archaeologist all around the Mediterranean sea: Populonia (Livorno, Italy), Paestum (Salerno, Italy), Olbia de Provance (Hyères, Var -France), Efestia (Lemnos, Greece), Phaistos, (Crete, Greece). Since I was a child I loved history of ancient Greeks and Romans and also the Art history from the Middle Ages to the Avanguardie of the '900. I live in Salerno, a characteristic sea town located between the paradise of Amalfi Coast and the charming Cilento. Thanks to my job and passion I working and travelling all over the World discovering different people, cultures and stories. I'm going to offer my knowledge in the art-historical and archaeological field for anyone who wants to understand and investigate the incredible richness of my country. Together we will discover the secrets of ancient Greeks and Romans that already in the past they knew the incomparable beauty of those places. With me you will know also other ancient civilizations and royal families, like Lombards, Normans, Anjous, Aragons and Bourbons, that ruled and enriched the Region with Monuments of incredible beauty and historic value. I'm a member of Slow Food (an international movement that strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages farming of plants, seeds and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem) and so I organize specific tours to those who want to discover the authentic pleasures of wine and traditional food. I also do online pre-trip consultations to help traveller to get their best from their vacations. Availability, preparation and organization are my greatest battle horses to transmit the love that I feel for my country and its history. Join me in this archaeological tour! As your personal PhD Archaeologist working in Paestum I will be happy to share my knowledge with you. Poseidonia was founded by the Greeks at the end of the 7th century BC. The name was related to the Greek god Poseidon, protector of the sea. This archaeological area is now one of the best preserved cities from the times of Greek colonization. We will go to discover the evolution of this ancient city from the Greeks to the Romans through the ruins of temples dedicated to Athena, Hera, Apollo and Zeus. In Paestum there is also an incredible National Museum that show us some of the most important artifacts of Greek and Roman times, where is possible to see the painted Tomb of the Diver, a masterpiece of 2500 years ago. So use this time to ask me all the questions and curiosities you have about archaeology and greek mithology. Poseidonia/Paestum is a wonderful cultural heritage protected by the UNESCO and I truly suggest to visit this place.
Robert was an amazing guide. He is very passionate and knowledgeable. He is an archeologist and we talked about many other Greek sites to contrast and compare Paestum. Roberto,an archeologist, was an extremely professional , knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Paestum is a hidden gem of greek temples about 1.5 hrs by train from Rome and 45 minutes by car from Salerno ( Roberto arranged the transportación for us Highly recommended!!

During the visit of Archeological Area I'll show you the Ruins of the temples, the Heroon (the tomb of the mythical founder Hero of the Greek city), the Roman Forum and the Roman residential area.
