Hello, my name is Matteo, I am a native Sardinian and I've lived most of my life on this beautiful island, except for a couple of years in London and 6 months in Australia and France. I've also worked (as a civilian) for more than 8 years in an important international NATO base in the south of Sardinia. I have a Master's degree in foreign languages (English and French) but at the university, I've also studied the Sardinian language, Sardinian history, and traditions. I've also attended many courses in Sardinian Archeology, due to the vast number of prehistoric monuments we have in the island. Sardinia sometimes is compared to a continent, for its variety of landscapes, cultures, languages, and traditions. I would be delighted to present you my island in all its diversities and originality. We Sardinians love our island, we consider it as a very beautiful, special, and fascinating island and we are ready to show you around and demonstrate that our love is fully justified. On request, I can organize excursions with buses of 50 seats, boats, yachts, and helicopters. Excursions on the occasion of special events: religious, sporting, and local festivals. From 2025 my vehicle used for individual/small group tours will be the new Hyundai Staria Hybrid 2025. Contact me and I will be happy to organize your tour and give you all the information about events, places to visit, and the related costs. - Master's degree in foreign languages - University of Sassari - Italian tour guide licence n. 20001038 - Certificate of tourist guide n. 2020 - Region of Sardinia (Italy) None.

Barbagia is fascinating area of Sardinia; an initial discovery reveals a terrain rugged yet articulated (perhaps the wildest on the Island), and a world where customs and traditions pair with a generous people. It is a life characterized and preceded by millennia of fascinating history. In its east is the Supramonte Ogliastrino, a chalky plateau dominated by Monte Corrasi (4, 800 ft high) and extending throughout the territories of Oliena, Orgosolo, Dorgali, Bunei and Urzulei. It is jaw-dropping and spectacular, cut by deep, jagged valleys (called codule) that lead towards the sea by piercing the calceous littoral walls. The result is a spectacular landscape characterized by gorges and cliffs. Orgosolo where we will go is at the heart of this region, a town known in the past as the capital of the bandits but, nowadays, it is just an open air museum full of tourists which come to see its murales.
From the Olbia area, we'll reach the Barbagia in about one hour with the car. After the first stop for a coffee in a gas station near Dorgali, we will visit, if the people wish to do it, the chasm of Ispingoli. A cave dominated by an enormous 38-meter high limestone column, one of the tallest stalactite-stalagmite examples in Europe. In the past, it was known as the Virgins' Abyss, a name with haunting significance: archeological research has discovered that the site was probably used by the Phoenician as a sacrificial well. If you suffer vertigo and don't feel to go down on chasm, we'll go to Monte Ortobene, the sacred mountain of Nuoro, to see in its top, the bronze statue of the Redentore, and after we will visit a cavern still used as a house by the shepherds. Finally, we will go to the Orgosolo Supramonte, where we will enjoy tasty, typical Sardinian open-air cooking, among the ancient holm-oaks, with the genuine flavors of Barbagia and its strong wines and grappa.

The whole tour will be with a Hyundai Staria Hybrid 2025 model, a comfortable, air conditioned 9 seater vehicle (see photos in my profile).
