Individual, out of the box and radiating positive energy - that's how my tours are. Anja, born 1967, open water swimmer, salsa dancer and travel addict having traveled 70+ countries so far and thus knowing what a traveler needs. My passion is to turn cool facts into great stories. I am so happy that I can do this in both of my professions - being a city guide for Düsseldorf and a journalist specialized in economics. I highly value thorough education and delivering perfect service. As a journalist I have worked for the equivalent of Financial Times in Germany and can provide you with insights about German economy, politics and "Life, the Universe and Everything". - certified three star *** city guide - also working for the official tourist office in Düsseldorf - member of the German Professional Guide Association (BVGD) - certified Church Guide Please not: I am a guide for Dusseldorf only! I am not a driver guide. In Germany you need a taxi licence for this - otherwise guests are not insured. Therefor I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can recommend a limousine service (car and driver).

Overview of your Dusseldorf tour

Do you want to taste my city with a real foodie as guide? Life is too short for bad food and drinks! German food is so much more than pork knuckles - even though they are great. I cherish quality: Bakery Hinkel is the best in Germany - let's try one of their 60 kinds of bread. Düsseldorf is rich in mustard. If you bring a container you can have mustard on tap. Why craft beer when there are still four microbreweries in the old town serving our local top fermented Altbier. The Carlsplatz market survives because of its focus on "the best": My favourite stall is small but filled with ingredients that are usually only sold to Michelin star awarded chefs. Let's enjoy the market roast coffee and delicious pastry by a German Pastry Chef of the Year. We will then walk 3 minutes to beautiful shopping street Königsallee to enjoy an atmosphere of luxury. Shopping from fashion to furniture. Let's end this culinary and lifestyle tour with a glass of Champagne - or taste the best Champagne chocolate truffles in the world.

We has some time in Düsseldorf ahead of our river cruise, so we wanted to find a fun tour that helped us get to know the city and its people better. This was it. Anja is wonderful. You can tell she actually loves this city and isn't just running through a script. Her communication ahead of time was amazing, and she asked what we were into, then shaped the whole tour around us. We started with a little walk, then a visit to Carlsplatz market, which was buzzing even in the rain. I ended up buying some licorice that I'm now rationing because I know I won't find it again at home. So. Good. (We ended up coming back for a great lunch.) From there we wandered into the old town and learned a surprising amount about Düsseldorf mustard along the way. We tasted a few varieties of mustard, and they were a world away from the yellow stuff back home. Then, we popped into a brewery for some proper Alt beer, served along with pickled eggs. It was actually delicious. Anja explained the whole egg prep process, which required vinegar, oil, salt and pepper, and, of course, mustard. Hearing her explain the whole process, was one of those small, weirdly memorable moments you get with great guides. We also visited a shop for tea and sweets, which were out of this world. A cool French pastry shop that was full in the middle of the day. Book this tour. It's amazing.

Anja was amazing! Went on this tour with my husband and parents. We told her we wanted a mix of food & culture and she customized the tour to exactly what we wanted. She was personable, knowledgeable and fun! We had the best time & for a great overview of the best of Düsseldorf. Highly recommend adding this to your must-dos !

Anja showed us a unique view of Dusseldorf; though the weather did not cooperate, her positive energy, adaptability and knowledge of the area allowed our group to have an amazing time learning about various foods and cultural aspects of the city. I recommend her as a tour guide during your next visit to Dusseldorf.

Your Dusseldorf tour itinerary

- We will start in the old town, visit one or several breweries and a mustard shop. The family-run bakery Hinkel (4th generation) offers craftsmanship at its best. Hinkel is considered to be the best bakery in Germany only doing handcrafted dough without machines. The owner's hobby is to collect bread recipes wherever he goes. - Then we will continue to the bustling Carlsplatz market with the option of tasting locally roasted coffee, pastry, exceptional German white wines, handmade pasta and much more. - Finally we will walk to Königsalle and have a leisurely stroll with window shopping and discovering the fascinating architecture of the shopping mall Stilwerk. I cater the tour to your interests: If you don't like alcohol we will skip the liqueur tasting and try the Rhubarb or elderflower "lemonade" called Fassbrause in Uerige brewery instead of a beer. This tour is not possible on Sundays as the market and all shops are closed.
