Individual, out of the box and radiating positive energy - that's how my tours are. Anja, born 1967, open water swimmer, salsa dancer and travel addict having traveled 70+ countries so far and thus knowing what a traveler needs. My passion is to turn cool facts into great stories. I am so happy that I can do this in both of my professions - being a city guide for Düsseldorf and a journalist specialized in economics. I highly value thorough education and delivering perfect service. As a journalist I have worked for the equivalent of Financial Times in Germany and can provide you with insights about German economy, politics and "Life, the Universe and Everything". - certified three star *** city guide - also working for the official tourist office in Düsseldorf - member of the German Professional Guide Association (BVGD) - certified Church Guide Please not: I am a guide for Dusseldorf only! I am not a driver guide. In Germany you need a taxi licence for this - otherwise guests are not insured. Therefor I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can recommend a limousine service (car and driver).

We will meet in the old town and taste the typical Dusseldorf drink: dark coloured top fermented Altbier. Find our your favourite Altbier - which translates to "old beer": As the "old" refers to the method of brewing they all use their individual recipies and thus each Altbier tastes differently. There are four microbreweries within the pretty small old town - from very traditional Schlüssel, Uerige and Füchschen to modern Kürzer. The former headquarter of Schumacher brewery is also in the old town but is not counted as old town brewery as they brew their beer since the Second World War in the city center outside of the old town. You will be able to taste all of their brews if you like. Plus some other craft beer specialties...
We will start in the old town, visit at least two breweries and you will be able to taste their differences. If you are a fast drinker we will make all four, and maybe even Schumacher as a fifth one brewing in the city center. The traditional way of having an Altbier is to lean on a high (comfortable) table outside - and then walk on to the next brewery. Due to the pandemic seating is required now. This results in us maybe not making all five tastings within two hours. You can tell me your preference in taste (hoppy, malty, is bitter okay) and we will chose the breweries. I cater the tour to your interests: If you don't like alcohol it is possible to have non-alcoholic drinks like a Rhubarb or elderflower "lemonade" called Fassbrause in Uerige brewery or an Apfelschorle - a typical German mix of apple juice and sparkling water - instead.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
This is a walking tour. The old town is very compact and can be crossed on foot within 6-8 minutes.
