Hello everybody. My name is Sonya, a native Praguer. I would like to share with you my passion about my city and the country. We will be exploring the hidden corners, speak about our culture, our customs and traditions. I was born and rise in Prague but I also used to live in Berlin and London for couple of years. I love traveling, going to different countries, especially in Asia - Cambodia, Laos, India, Thailand. My next destination will be Japan. To be a tour guide I fulfilled my child dream. As the child I was always behind the guides, carefully listening to their explanations. I decided to become an archaeologist. However, during the communistic time it was very hard to study archeology, because the department was open just every second year and only 3 people from the whole Czechoslovakia were accepted to the studies, so instead I studied and finished the Economics. After several year working, the dream reached me again and I met my dream job - guiding. I love history, its details, hidden stories to see that everything what happened in the previous years has such a huge impact today. That what attracts me on history. In Prague you will find me in a coffee house reading historical books or walking with a book and looking for small details. I can stay in the front of an building for hours admiring the beauty of gothic, renaissance, baroque era and any detail I can find on the building. I like making people happy, always you will be the first. I am very empathetic, caring, smiling, responsible. I am also very flexible, what everything you need to do, I can organize it. My work is my hobby. I look forward to meeting you. The town of Terezín was founded in 1780 by Emperor Joseph II as a military fortress protecting Prague from the attack of Prussian troops. During World War II, the Small Fortress became a Gestapo prison, and the Large Fortress was chosen by Reinhard Heydrich (the architect of the final solution) as an assembly camp for the Jewish population from 1941. It is possible to add to this trip visit of village Lidice, jewish quarter in Prague or any of the listed places from the tour Anthropoid.
You will primarily visit the Great Fortress, which served as a Jewish ghetto. You will visit the Museum of ghetto, where you will learn about the history of the Jews in the Bohemian territories and watch a film made by the Nazis to show how exemplary their care for the Jews was. Then you will see the original synagogue and a replica of the mansard, also visiting the Magdeburg Barracks, which is now a museum of Jewish culture during World War II, and finally the crematorium. After that you visit the Small Fortress, which functioned as a prison for the Gestapo, and explore it – individual quarters, prison courtyards and other places in the fortress. You will visit - museum of ghetto - Magdeburg barracks - previous synagogue (prayer room) - crematorium - small fortress
