Oh hey! I'm Andrey: tour guide based in Prague. On my tours I try to "read" artworks to recognize religious symbols, character clichés or attributes and genres. Sharing my knowledge of Czech history, culture, food and drinks is something I really enjoy. I have broad driver-guide experience, and that allows me to take you on a memorable journey to some of the most famous sites in Czech Republic. During my tours we will travel in a maximum 3 passenger brand new (2023) Hyundai i30 Wagon N-Line MILD HYBRID, or I can hire a 8-seat minibus, if a larger group is required. I can meet you from your city accommodation or directly at Prague Airport. Traveling in a car gives us access to all the hidden gems of Bohemia, Austria and Saxony. Each tour can be tailored to suit you and your interests. I studied wines in Austrian Wine Academy, and in 2015 with the completion of my wine research thesis I received the title of 'Weinakademiker'. As a WSET Certified Educator, I'm currently involved with a wine school approved by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) to offer their qualifications. In my tours I try to combine art and culture with the local food and wine / beer pairing. If you like a winery / brewery tasting tour, I prefer to do everything possible to ensure that you discover the authentic pleasures of local drinks. There are a lot of hidden gems in Czech Republic that not on the usual tourist Itinerary. Historic towns (e. g. Telc), religious sites (pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk steeped in symbolism in Zdar nad Sazavou, and beautiful pilgrimage site in Svata Hora near Pribram), secluded parks (gardens and chateau in Kromeriz, Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape), and natural wonders (Erzgebirge/Krusnohori Mining Region). My interests include history of Prague, English and American Literature, wine tasting and trail running. That's right y'all, I'm not just a pretty travel guide face. There are a lot of places that you can visit while you are in Prague. I will love to meet some new friends and travel together. Feel free to drop me a line. - Guide of Prague, - Gold Card Czech Tourist Guide, - Terezin Memorial Accredited Guide, - Taxi driver license (Yellow card), - Master's degree in Philosophy, - Weinakademiker, WSET Certified Educator, Certified Sherry Educator, Cognac Educator.

The best time to visit Karlstejn Castle is from May to October. The castle is about 40 minutes outside Prague. On this driving tour you will learn about the castle's history, Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia and Czech history as such. This castle and surrounding grounds are beautiful. The view from the castle is amazing. It was good to be king! Well, it does require a 1 mile walk up a sloping street to get to the castle, so I recommend the a horse carriage ride to the top. To see anything inside you need to take a group tour by a castle guide. The Outer Ward, Burgrave's Court and the Well Tower you wil see whether or not you take the group tour. Please don't forget to wear comfortable walking shoes. You can also add Krivoklat castle to Karlstejn at an additional cost. As they are not very far from each other, and they are both very famous, it might be a perfect combo.
There are a number of different type of group tours at different prices but I recommend the tour that includes the impressive Chapel of the Holy Cross, with its perfectly preserved set of 129 medieval paintings depicting Saints, Prophets, Rulers, and Church Fathers. This tour is not accessible to handicapped persons - there are a lot of steps, both up and then back down. To do the English tour of Chapel of the Holy Cross, it is necessary to make reservations / buy tickets ahead. Please inform me in advance. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is open from May till October so keep that in mind. - Hotel Pick-up - Stop at the central car parking in the town below the castle, walk up to castle - Courtyards, well and clock towers walking - Castle group official guided tour (book in advance) - optional - Lovely stop for lunch (paid locally) - optional - Hotel Drop-off
