I studied Oceanography at the University of Hamburg (F. R. Germany) but since 2006 I am a freelance licensed tourist guide, guiding in German, English and Greek. Overview of your Nicosia tour
An amazing tour to Bellapais village where we visit the Abbey, Keryneias Castle with the hellinistic shipwreck. We have free time in Keryneia for lunch. In the village of Bellapais we find an exclusive European Gothic Abbey, originally used by the Augustinian Order. A beautiful well preserved building of the 10th century, unique in the Middle East, much in line with abbeys found in Italy and Spain. The Keryneia castle is one of the most beautiful and well preserved castles built by the Lusignians, on the northern coast of Cyprus. An amazing and robust construction, entirely out of limestone, from the nearby quartiers of Pentadactylos range. It has an interior courtyard and a small chapel. Since 1970 it houses the original shipwreck of Keryneia ship that sailed in the hellinistic times from Samos to Cyprus with a rich cargo of wine amphorae and stone mills. The ship sunk a few miles out of Keryneia. I have been visiting Keryneia since my childhood and I will communicate you my personal touch.
